Regarding the problem with the toolbar and the showing of PageRank:

7. I see an update on www2, how long will it take before I see the new pagerank?
google picks there pagerank values from www.google.com (the PR toolbar value) and you will see it when you see the new index on www.google.com, but make sure it’s somewhat stable, because people in Europe and America might see a different index sometimes. Also a small tip for the europeans: If you want to see if google is showing the americans a different index, you can try using the "Translate this page" under "Page Info" button on the Toolbar, and you might see a difference in the number of results returned.

From the Google Update FAQ [webmasterworld.com]

This means that you will not see a different PageRank before the new index is stable at the main www search.
So if they update the index you will still not be able to see your new PageRank before a few days afterwards.

Also Google has said they are having problems with the toolbar and that it should be resolved soon.

Maybe the best idea is to pretend that Google are never going to update again...ever. Then it'll be a real bonus if anything happens today, tomorrow or next year :p

When I first saw this thread I thought it would span about 10 messages. This is top class, modern tragedy and drama. It has everything. Human suffering, pain and hopefully at some point, ecstacy. (That'll be the 800th post of course)

Reading this "no-update" thread is more fun than the official january update thread. With 400+ messages, it is even longer than the 350 messages of the Jan update thread. I hope that the update takes some more time so I can enjoy this one!

No really, I am waiting for my site to show up...

arrgghghh, no, surely

;)

On a more serious side Google was still spidering my sites this morning if that means anything to Google-dance prognosticators...

Hey there's a thought....anyone seen the Googlehog's shadow lately? See it and that's 6 more weeks without an update...

Well, if we accomplish anything with this thread, instead of browbeating GG into updating, let's just go for the record for the most messages in single WebmasterWorld thread. What is the reacord here? Anyone know?

GoogleGuyd said it in one of those threads about spamming. Actually he did not specifically say, that it would happen with this update, but he promised that it would be soon.

And welcome to WebmasterWorld, ericjunior

I am praying for no update at the moment as my host can't keep their servers running at the moment, keeps falling over.

great! if gg said it - that makes me even more nervous.

i'm not a spammer but if this is one of those "lets really move the goalposts" updates then we're all in for a rough ride

the problem with google is that its so arbitary. one strike and your out! go spend 6 months rebuilding. If google could in some way warn offernding sites that they are breaking a rule and that they have a limited time to correct the offense - at least us SEO's wouldnt spend life on a knife edge each month fearing the worst (or hoping for the best - guess it works both ways)
