I think we are due for a less than friendly one.
GoogleGuy [webmasterworld.com] might agree.
"Regarding spam reports, we've been putting more effort lately into scalable spam algorithms and less into individual reports. You should see that bearing fruit relatively soon, and then we can go back and do another iteration using newer spam reports as training data."
The Google Dance
(To the tune of "Safety Dance" by Men Without Hats, brought to you once again by Gefilte and the Hoolinet)
Gggg oooo oooo gggg llll eeee
Google Dance!
Ah it can dance when it wants to, it can leave your site behind
Cause your friends don't dance and if don't dance
They're no friends of mine
I say it will come when it wants to, a patter you'll never find
And you can link your site all over this world
Leave the real one far behind
And it can dance (2x)
Google!
Ah it can dance when it wants to, the tech is young and so am I
And it can fresh your site just about every night
Then surprise you with a PR5
I say you can push the red button, if you don't nobody will
And you can act real cool and totally removed
While we all act like imbeciles
I say it can dance, it can dance, everything's under control
It can dance, it can dance, nothing you can do at all
It can dance, it can dance, everybody's peein' their pants
It can dance, it can dance, everyone give it a chance
Google Dance
Oh well the Google Dance
Ah yes the Google Dance
Gggg oooo oooo gggg llll eeee
Google Dance
It can dance when it wants to, it crawls all your site and mine
And long as we don't spam it, always gonna have it
Everything'll work out right
I say, it can dance when it wants to, it can leave your site behind
Cause your friends don't dance and if they don't dance
Well they're no friends of mine
I say it can dance, it can dance, everything's under control
It can dance, it can dance, nothing you can do at all
It can dance, it can dance, everybody's peein' their pants
It can dance, it can dance, everyone give it a chance
The Google Dance, The Google Dance...
It can dance

it would make sense if the firing in Irag begins soon, people will be glued to their TV sets rather than their PC's. The same happened in '91 with television but not this new thing they call the internet.
Remember when after September 11, almost some news sites got that much traffic, that they had to put down all graphics? In 1991, very few people were using the internet, and hardly anybody was looking for news. Well, time has changed, and now, the internet is the news resource number one, for many people.
Google will get a lot of searches after the war has started. People will be searching for "Saddam Hussein", "Iraq", "United Nations", ...
They should better be updated then, to serve the best matches. And by the way, I don't think that the war starts that soon.

Yeh well... let's just hope they don't catch quite as many dolphins in the net if they do that again. The last one but one (you know what I mean) was totally ridiculous.
We're quite used to that, freshbot often does that, but this time the site stayed there.
No change in position since it appeared. This was not a new page. Just new text on the page.
It gets locked JUST BEFORE I post this...

It's a conspiracy.
Here's my theory...
There's a secret gambling ring going on inside the Googleplex - they're betting on how many different hysterical webmasters will post on this forum about the update... or lack of.
Unfortunately for us the man with the button - GG - bet high - sky high - like no oxygen up there high - and is trying to fix the wagering. We've got to pay the price.
Good thing is I lost my sanity long ago. I tried to put up "Lost" posters, but I had a hard time putting a picture together to go with it. Obviously it didn't really get anywhere, but the padded room hotel was nice. :)
I've rambled enough... just don't ask me about JFK -- I think there's a message size limit somewhere. :)

I think I need to amend it a bit -- I think the admins here are IN ON IT! Yeah, that's it... Someone's getting a cut of the action... Now my money's on Mr. Plum in the Libra... oh wait, nevermind. :)
