tee hee Buckley!

Had a client on the phone on Friday (made the mistake of suggesting the update might be this w/e).

I said that the update hadn't happened and that I was watching keenly for any signs of the start. He asked me whether I couldn't get hold of google and ask them to at least update his site, since it was very important that people could find his site next week! ;)

Maybe if we all start singing when we go to google.com, we'll get him in the mood :)

i think they are just relying on freshbot this month to do the changes. Their first test. Results under my main key phrase have been moving everyday for the past week including my site which was on page 2 and now page 1.

Don't you have your special rainbow coloured Google Direct Line Super Update Phone yet, yetanotheruser?
I just sent away for mine last month and it works great.

Wondering nobody else came up with that before - just think about how many people will get married today...(not me, for sure).

I think they'll like this special date, too.

Yay. Totally missed the point. I was thinking more 'Monday morning & give them an hour or 2' - now you've explained I'll say stick my bets back in line with what you posted ;-)

Will they go with GMT or PST or what though?

3 interesting Google update dates:
Apr 6, 2002
Feb 20, 2002
Jan 25, 2002
So the argument is since they couldn;t replicate 02/20/02 they're going for 03/03/03? (they also did 1/21/2001)

I'm confused....I got thoroughly crawled by Googlebot today and the Googe update has not happened yet. It's not Freshbot because it's identifying itself as Googlebot. Why is Googlebot crawling at this time when the update is supposed to be any minute?

Freshbot does identify itself as Googlebot, the IP address identifies whether it's deepie or freshie better than the user-agent I think. There's a list (couple I think) of IP's for each somewhere on this board - use the site search (up by the WW logo) it's quite good.

Yes I'm still seeing Googlebot in my logs, last one was

freshbot 64.68.82.37 on Sun Mar 2 13:14:33 GMT using Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html).

I think GG is planning it so that he can post the 100,000th post in Google News saying the update has started.. so looks like we have 160 posts to go!

The 100,000th post is an interesting idea.

Too funny. I'm getting fluky PR bounces from a few sites we just got in Dmoz. One of them keeps showing a PR 10.......WE ROCK -- I wish :)

Seems like there is definitely something going on as these few sites are brand new, spidered by several Google bots weeks ago, but now only showing PR for the first time.

I did in message #225

The third second of the third minute of the third hour of the third day of the third month of the third year of the third millennium.

Something's brewing I fear. PR's all over the place for a number of sites here, been like this a few hours & getting freakier. Still 642k on Yahoo's backlinks though.

What happens first when Larry picks up the red telephone for the update? Is the yahoo back links the very first thing to happen or is it just the very first thing that we see changes in? Any facts on this?

p.s. it's past 3.03 and still not seeing any changes :(
