:::certain events were positive indicators of an eminent Google update.

:::Come on! can't you give us just one?

It's the last day of the month there for it's going to happen any time now. There now, you have one!

Maybe the person that's going to press the button thinks there's 29 days this month and wants to do it then!

It used to be that you had about 4 or 5 days without fresh tags prior to the update, but last month that didn't happen and there were fresh tags right before the update.

Brett puts all of the pre-update threads togeather when he gets a call from google that says the update is on.

After Brett cleans house the update has started thread appears.

I prefer to check this site obsessively. That initial rush of seeing a two or three page update thread really does something for me.

Brett gets a CALL from Google when the update begins? Are you sure about that?

Are you sure about this? Before the disappearance of fresh tags was a sign of a possible update. The problem being that fresh tags are known to disappear at other times of the month when there is no update. Only other sign I have heard of is that someone posted that the directory PR bars have been updated in the past a few hours before the real update. If so, this would likely be easiest to see in some very large directory category where it would be certain that at least some sites would change PR.

Sergey and I were playing hockey the other day and he told me that they have a randomizer on the button and NO ONE knows when it will happen. Keeps everyone on their toes.

>Brett gets a CALL from Google when the update begins? Are you sure about that?

I doubt. AFAIK they don't have phones at all at google. They use pigeons instead ... so when Brett gets a visit of a official google pigeon this usually means the update started ... only problem is, that the pigeons' flight from the google 'plex to the brett 'plex takes about a month. However, we don't discuss here what month's update he gets notified, or!?

How exactly does a pigeon tell him -- A bombing run?

hehehehe maybe some passive aggressive instigation will get them to push the button, what do you folks think?

Well here goes:

It figures that they would take their sweet ol' time! What the heck though, been waiting for the directory to update for a half a year now then I might as well wait another month for the index to update. I guess being relevant and up to date isn't as important as it used to be since they don't do the one thing they're most likely known for (meaning fairly consistent updates of the index every month)

btw. the previous post about watched pots not boiling is sooo true!

wrrrrr press the button!

I just got a most minty fresh update of March 1 on two of my sites. That isn't 'almost time for the update' behavior is it?

Oh NO there not. What ever we do now won't be seen in the dance until the 2nd March dance, at the end of the month. er that's if they do the dance 'on time'.

I think it's starting. ww1 and ww2 are offline here. Probably they are switching to new index.

I wonder do u think we will have 2 updates in march?
One was a late as the 6th
and another as early as the 19th
If same occurred in march this thread could be continuos.

>I wonder do u think we will have 2 updates in march?

Nope! I allready said that google's piegons aren't the fastest available ... so as long as google doesn't hire faster pigeons i highly doubt we'll see two udates per month. However i'm not sure about the possibility of three updates in two months, or even more if the month has more days and the pigeons are trained enough. What do ya think?
