NO no no...you need to be more discreete. What we do is set up a pool to hire a private investigative agency in Mountain View, CA (we'll use Google to find one). We have them dress up as the cleaning crew this evening but instead of cleaning we'll give them the location of the ominous red button in the main server room. They'll push the button...mission accomplished.

As stated before the update will happen when it happens, and only Google and GOOGLE alone decides when that is, trust me!

>If it were me, I would take a few days off. :)

There you have it, direct from the horses mouth. :)

If it happens in the next 48 or 72 hours people will say, "bah that google guy tells pork pies"

I suspect Google Guy doesnt want this to happen, so perhaps its a good idea to believe what he says and forget about the update and wait til it happens.

No update for Feb. :)

Well said Onyon. A sincere thanks GG, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY EASIER! This month sucked anyway. Ah, wonderful March. Now I'm out on the streets for a "few" days, looking for something much less addictive...

Yup, not happening till this weekend sometime.

I am going out of town, so I suppose it will give me something to look forward to when I get back! (Or not depending on what the Google gods do!)

Have fun watching the dance everyone! :-)

Clearly, GG is watching this thread. He is no doubt guarding the Big Red Button, probably armed with a serious automatic rifle. You will need to take him out to get to the Button. Plan accordingly. ;)

Hi, sorry the update is a little late this time. It's my fault. I called Google up the other day to ask them to wait a while whilst I finish some work on my sites!

I define "I would take a few days off" as meaning at least 3, as if the update were in 2 days saying take a couple days off" would make more sense. Thus, I wouldn't expect the update until at least Monday, unless Googleguy is intentionally lying to torment us. ;)

Well, it is now past midnight and March 1 based on the international standard of UTC, which is the one that is most appropriate for the Internet. And, for anyone wanting to use any other time zone, I personally don't expect the update to happen in the next 12 hours. For whatever reason the deep crawl was unusually late this month, and I don't think the computation necessary from it could be complete by now so the dance could be started. Odd that the update is so late, considering it wasn't late last month (it happened at 0345 on Jan. 26), which is about average of late. Google needs to make the update happen at regular times to ease the nerves of webmasters. ;) Although, as my sites are doing so well in the SERPs at the moment most of the potential they have in an update is in the direction of down, so a late update doesn't bother me much.

>>Odd that the update is so late

Since there is no schedule posted for updates it is impossible for the update to be late. :)

The update isn't even late using historical patterns to predict the update.

hot shower, a glass of wine, a spot of tea if you abstain from all alcohol, milk if you abstain from caffeine, a nice book, Gilligan's Island re-runs, Silly Songs from Larry Veggi-Tales video, ER re-runs, Buffy and the Scooby Gang, a long walk (not off a short pier though), swimming some laps, etc., etc., etc.

Hey, Google Guy did say (twice this week by the by) to take some time off, so we, us, ya'll, all ya'lls may as well enjoy it and punch the personal lil red buttons and put pause da worry on pause til another day.

That Googleguy post today does make it seem like he was saying the update was still a few days off. Thus those with new sites trying to get in, or old sites they are expecting a big rise in the SERPs for, may have to hang in there.

Imagine if "they" pressed the red update button on a leap year? We would have to wait for four years for abother update. What would we do....?

......OK, I am off to bed :)

People in California don't care about UTC. They have more than six hours left.
