Its started!
No it hasn't.
Do you think Google have completely rebuilt their system, canned pagerank and gone with numerology?
Yes thats exactly what I'm seeing on my sites.
No thats purely speculation! Pffft - fools.
I haven't slept in 6 days - will they please start the update.
I saw something move.
You're losing it buddy - it hasn't started yet.
Yeah, you are right - I think it was just my cat.
Maybe googleguy is that Al-Quida guy the picked up in Pakistan the other day. He can't hit the button because he's in Guantanamo Bay.
Anyone seen Googlebot?
Pagerank is dead.
Look inside you will. Update yourself you will.
From now on we will see Google in a constant state of everflux. Monthly updates are over.
I'm new here and I just wanted to know has the update has started?
Yes.
No.
etc....
"I've been reading this forum like mad for weeks. I just noticed that when I searched (insert term here), the results on WWW1 and WWW2 are different. I think the update started an hour ago. You're all wrong."
You can't forget that in the summary. Or was that another blank thread? What would we be without that?!?
Is he hard at work on a new black-box update predictor?
<Come to think of it, I haven't seen any GoogleGuy post in a few days.>
[webmasterworld.com...]
On 2/27 AcesHigh guessed "I just noticed my domain when searched is coming up with 1 less link, than the amount there was 20 mins ago. Wonder why? Update time coming soon maybe? "
On 3/2 AcesHigh said "I bet a box of doughnuts (boston cream) Monday 6-8pm Atlantic Time Aprox we will see our first signs of the update."
You can donate mine to charity, thanks.
<I'll try to answer the original q*u*estion on this thread.
"I built one website of a*p*proximately 50 pages. I then copie*d* it 70 times. I then went b*a*ck and changed *t*he front pag*e* of each of the *70* websites.">
I think it's an indication of when the update will occur. The message indicates it was posted at "8:30 pm on Mar 4, 2003 (utc 0)", so the update should begin 70 hours after this message was posted, or Friday the 7th at 6:30pm WebmasterWorld's time.
I submitted some pages 2 weeks ago and they are now indexed in google, just today.
Does this mean they have updated? I landed in the TOP 20. but not the top 10.
The top 10 results havent changed. This means google hasnt updated yet? Will my pages have a chance of moving anytime soon, or will they just stay they are for a while?
<I submitted some pages 2 weeks ago and they are now indexed in google, just today.
Does this mean they have updated?>
Your pages were most likely picked up by Google's Freshbot, which will include you in the index temporarily, at which time the pages will probably be dropped in a few days.
Several days after the update, the Deepcrawler should hit your site, and then that month's update should include you in the more permanent index.
<May be Google isn't updating anymore and like many sites that don't update it will just fade away. Bye Google I'll miss you :(>
That's true.. without new and invigorating content, people will stop linking to Google and their PR will drop, then no one will be able to find them in a Google search.
<I guess then I can update my pages and not worry about altering them in fear of losing rank?>
If you make changes to a page, that page may not rank the way it did previous to the change once Freshbot picks it up again, because certain keywords will likely have been modified, either removed or relocated elsewhere on the page.
i wish that was the case here.
here's some humor relief for those of us who seem sort of lost with no update to invigorate or destroy our lives. (some sarcasm there... for most of us, i hope.)
"A woman called the Canon help desk with a problem with her printer. The tech asked her if she was running it under "Windows." The woman responded, "No, my desk is next to the door. But that is a good point. The man sitting in the cubicle next to me is under a window and his printer is working fine."
