I am working on a press release distribution website (ANewsWire) and I am trying to understand how modern Google updates are treating press release and syndication sites in 2026.

From my observations, I have noticed:

Some press release pages are getting indexed quickly, while others are delayed
Backlinks from press release distribution sites seem to have less SEO impact than before
Google appears to prioritize original news sources over syndicated versions
Traffic from press release backlinks is mostly referral-based rather than organic ranking improvement

I want to ask the SEO community:

Are press release distribution sites still effective for SEO in 2026?
Do press release backlinks still carry any ranking value, or are they mostly ignored?
How should a platform like ANewswire structure content to improve visibility in Google News and organic search?
Are there any best practices to ensure press releases are not treated as duplicate or low-value content?

Looking forward to insights from others working in SEO and digital PR.
