chiyo, which one? I had one other post moved here by an editor, so it's two different posts.

They make sense to me, where's the typo?

msg 40 in this thread.. on second reading it seems that you are happy that the offending site has been reduced from several high listings to just one. So i misread sorry.. Pity it was the best one though!

Google ex seems to have indexed all my new links but doesn't seem to have given me any credit. The link: command seems to be producing the same results as last month, and my rankings have remained the same. Do I have to wait another month to see these show up?

In general patience is a good thing for watching links develop, Trodda.

Interesting... just noticed that if you set the Results Per Page to 100 you are more apt to receive multiple listings for each website than you are for 10. Seems the higher the # of results you choose the more likely you are to get multiple listings.

Just saw this looking at the new search results... also works on www too.

Perhaps this means it's time to sleep! :)

If what i see on www-ex.google.com is anything to go by, i wont have an income when this update is done with. Good job ive got a beautiful loving wife and kids to keep me going or i'd ... i dont know what i'd do.

One of my competitors had 11,000 links to his site after last update. on checking with the www-ex he now has 18,000 and his site has leapfrogged mine for related keywords i was above him for.
I know he is more or less a one man band so how would he be able to get 7000 odd new links in a month or so? Does this mean he must be using a program such as Ar....?
On his site that has 18000 links pointing to it, he has a links page with only 100 outgoing links on. So how would he manage to get so many people willing to link to him if he doesnt link back? I assure you it's not having good content thats getting him the links. It's a basic commercial site.

In the last few weeks ive been working hard to get links but they were obviously too late for this update. Maybe my positions will improve on the next update, but the new links i have got recently still only add up to a hundred or so in a month. With people getting 1000's of new links a month it seems impossible to try and keep up with the competition by hand.

Is getting links the single most reason for the competition to be leapfrogging me?
It's not just one site, a few have climbed well above me. Even some new sites! On some keywords ive been pushed right out of the reckoning.
I've been adding new content, new pages, getting a trickle of links but it just aint good enough..
Why?

Are you sure the extra backlinks showing are external inbound backlinks?

If a site jumps from PR4 to PR7 (that could be just one or a few new extra external inbound links), then it would be normal that a lot of the site's internal pages get a jump in Pagerank (>PR4) and show in the backlinks of Google.

Few people in this thread (part 1) suggested that multiple backlinks from a single site were not counted. But as far as i see the results, that is not true. Also some people said they lost their PR across the board. Not seeing any change there either.

I must confess being rather confused about all these fresh 10th tags in www-ex. Can't remember to have seen that before so early after a dance starting.

Silly question:

Now I've checked my ranking in www-ex.google.com and www2/3.google.com and I AM DESPERATE :(.

Life isn't pink here. Should I start working on my pages straight away (b4 the deepcrawl) or should I wait that www.google.com settles down.

The update seems to be going very quickly. I think Google has started doing the update in a different way. Kinda stacking everything early then changing it all at once?

Hey guys, I updated much of my site about 4 weeks ago, the fresh bot crawled them and the new pages were comming up. now the update has come... my old pages are back and PR dropped from 2 to zero. Is this normal, anybody have any rationale behind this?

nscuk, we're always experimenting with different and better ways to update and crawl. Change is good. :)

So when are we expecting the deepcrawl again?!?

I have put up totally new sites, but just missed the last deepcrawl.
That is why I am not that excited with this update. I am more anxious for the next deepcrawl.

For a rather major keyword (18 800 000 results) I get a strange result at #17. This is in the new index at www2.google, etc.
The url says www.qksrv.net/click-xxxxxx-xxxxxxx. A CJ (affiliate) link! Probably nothing to worry about, but I have not seen this before.

Several weeks ago someone posted a message regarding your exact situation. It was deleted by the moderator due to an URL drop. Their website was listed in the serps, but the url at the bottom of the entry said "www.qksrv.net/click-....." This means that your affiliate is getting your traffic and that your affiliate will be credited for sending you lots of traffic. Google appears to have addressed the issue with their algorithm as a allinurlsearch several weeks ago brought up about 750,000. A search now only brings up 335 entries on www and 1090 on www2. Some more tweaking by Google should eliminate the problem.

Webmaster World lost a point in pagerank because it lost 2000 links and/or much of its PR comes from its dmoz/Google directory listings which are offering much weaker pop than previously.

<I'm betting the latter.>

>In general patience is a good thing

Yah, patience ...

I'll try to be patient, GoogleGuy, allthough www2 results look strange to me for a couple of searches - some hardcore ole shool spam is back again, beating my site again. Remember my reports i sent you two months ago? All this 1x1 pixel, link and alt text stuffing, crosslinking, guestbooking thingys ... back again. At least in some cases i observe since months, the damn obvious hardcore spam is winning ... and now even more than yesterday. I'm starting to loose my nerves again after spending months on writing good content and hunting for good links - no se improvements or credits, but loosing positions.

Phhh... patience.

Sure they aren't deep crawling? Notice the behavior? Does it look like it is walking through links, or hitting previous pages?

Okay folks, I'm going to head to bed. Hope I don't have any early meetings tomorrow. :) With any luck, I'll sleep right through stage two and wake up when people are coming into equilibrium.

If that made no sense, check the first Update Thread, message #239. You have read this entire thread in chronological order, right? ;)

See ya tomorrow, er.. today!

Interesting update ...

The first time I really don't see any spam in the first 20 :)
And the first time results didn't change very much.

I like it - this is stable way to make quality results :)
