Thanks for the host file path on XP. Editted mine and now I'm very happy to see we got PR 6 back. We also got bumped to #3 on a most coveted term in our interest. I'm loving this dance.

darn...some old pages show grey in the toolbar now, yet still return number one for their key phrase....huh?

Anyone else liking the -sj better than the -ex so far? (I know I am)

I don't see sj picking up new results yet.

on a kw1 kw2 search I'm interested in, -sj is, and has been for a spell, bouncing back and forth between about 1,410,000 reutrns and 1,470,000 returns. I'm happier with the former as I can still find my missing index page (at least for now) at -sj (I suspect that's gonna change before the dawn though, given that it's gone buh-bye on me over at -ex

The Toolbar is showing a PR drop for some sites, but it does look like the value of the links has increased slightly.

Lots more backlinks showing.

Main site dropped from PR6 to PR5. Shame, I was hoping for a PR7!

Just checked my server logs and no sign of GoogleBot today, looks like we're on for Update Cassandra.

Good luck everybody

Another appropriate movie quote (Princess Bride):
"I do not envy the headache you will have when you awaken."

"I do not envy the bandwidth bill Brett will have when he awakens." (because of all the people hitting reload on these long posts :)

When searching one of my keywords on www-ex it takes a looooong time to get ...... a SERP with _completely_ irrelevant results.

No problems with any other search terms that I have tried.

I can see my backlinks on -ex finally! Must mean I've moved up to a PR4 Woohoo! And I've finally got a directory listing! :D

Me too! It's good to come out from the shadows. :)

Hey "googleguy"! Is this -ex.google being used instead of the www3 this time and if so, will the updates from -ex be sent to www.google.com or to www3.google.com?

teeceo.

P.s. Why -ex this time?

I'm seeing the Google Directory not showing up as a backlink some of the time.

My backlinks using link:www.domain.com is showing on ex for the first time, so my PR must have hit 4. But, it only shows links up to 24 of 48 then stops. Meaning, it shows I have 48 links, but in clicking though the pages of links it ends on "Results 21 - 24 of about 48"

Why is G hiding the rest?

Alphawolf, could be that some of the links were detected as duplicates.

From the looks of it some very subtle but clever changes this month. Very good.

However, am I the only person who actually looks at an update from a defensive perspective? It sounds like it. The first thing I do is go through my main terms to ensure I am still on the board.

If I am, I'm happy. A great sigh of relief... I'm still in business for another month! Only when I have mopped my worried brow do I check for any progress or change on other terms.

No reason at all why I shouldn't be there I hasten to add... but you never know... life isn't always fair or reasonable.

This has always been the case that it says you have twice as many as it will show. But for mine it shows three less than the half it says. Using allinurl it shows three less pages than it says it has. I have three pages that were crawled and don't show up in 'site:' searches or in 'more results from this domain' serps. Strange.

I'm noticing many pages where their PR is *two* notches below their dmoz link (their best link).

Napoleon, I've noticed the same pattern with updates. There's a happy rush as everyone crowds into the room to see how many new pages got indexed, what their PR looks like, etc. Then there's a backlash when people look around at other people's sites and how the other guy did. This middle period is when the "sky is falling! spam is worse than ever!" threads get spawned. The last period comes when people sort of reach equilibrium and start to gather notes and plan their new changes. I'm starting to get used to the "sky is falling" stage each month, but I still like the "happy rush" much more. :)

Bearing in mind that the backlinks, PR and everything else will not show true till after the update everyone should now calm down and do something useful :)

If DMOZ is their best link they need help. Forget about PR and start thinking about traffic that converts to sales.

GoogleGuy, you of all people should know that when the link: command says it has found 100 results that means it will only show 50 and then only after you hit the 'include omitted results' link....

Unless you are really Brett_Tabke;)
