My PR dropped about an hour. Now it's back up to 7.

Saw my PR drop but it's gone back up now. Strange to watch, but what do you expect from a Dance-Virgin. :)

(Been lurking here off and on for quite some time, done lurking now, this is fun!) <--- geek? nah.

>>Looks to me like they trounced multiple links from the same site from a quick look. I suspect they've dealt a hit to back-links.

I'm seeing multiple backlinks from one site, but they're scattered through out the results instead of being clustered. Over all my backlinks are down for the second month in a row even though we have added new links.

PR is going to fluctuate during this period. don't read into that. there is considerable argument as to when PR actually shows up.

She is dancing. Results will take a little time (a couple of days) to joggle amongst databases and ultimately settle but make no mistake about it.. she sits on -ex right now.

Looked at you cached pages in -ex to confirm this is new.

:-(

It didn't seem to crawl some other sites of mine that really should have been crawled.

I have been waiting for this and not done anything tricky... losing hope in my ability as a businessman... going to break down and find another career... aaahh!

Would someone please take pity on me and check my new PR for me? I'll swear, I tried. URL in in my profile. I'm dying here!

My new site seems to have a PR 3 now. I also hit #1 on one minor keyword and one minor key phrase that I'd been targeting (a major short term goal of mine), and got a big jump (page 3 on -ex compared to page 10+ from freshbot results) on my target major keyword.

Not the greatest results in the world, but considering that I stumbled across WW literally about halfway through the last deep crawl, I'm pretty happy with them. Thanks to everybody out there for your help, and good luck to everyone else.

I have also noticed that backlinks from the same domain tend to be scattered as oposed to clustered. I guess some or all of the links from within the same domain may be removed as the update moves on.

Bit unfair for those of us in regional / international categories.. *shrug*

Not unfair at all. Having your link show up as a backlink when using the link: command means only that it shows up when you do the link: command. A pr 4 link is better than a pr 3 link only because it has higher pr, not because it shows up as a backlink. If pr 3 links were to show up with this command tomorrow they would not be worth any more (I think they would be worth less). If PR 4 links didn't show with the command tomorrow they wouldn't be worth any less (I think they would be worth more)

Nah. Five years of hard work selecting the best links and the best sites to link to me - make for that ranking. Well, that and others things like...

Will someone please explain in non-webmaster lingo exactly what the significance of ex.google.com results is?! I've been watching www2 and www3. Is the dance beginning with ex.google?

Simply put, I checked ex.google.com and I am #5 for two keyword phrases that I have been working for. I've been #56 and #39 for the same keyword phrases in Google proper, www2 and www3. What do the results in ex.google.com mean for me?

from Google Guy

I should be nearby over the next few days. While people are around, let me mention a few things. Several people should see the results of reinclusion requests with the new index. Before a new crawl starts is also the best time to send a reinclusion request (email to webmaster@google.com with the subject line "reinclusion request" and explain how you've cleaned up the site). I don't know when a new crawl will start, but better to be early than late with a reinclusion request.
Last thing I wanted to mention: I'd appreciate any spam reports of pages with hidden text or hidden links over the next couple weeks. If you've already submitted a report on a page, you don't need to re-submit it though. Thanks everyone..

My reinclusion requests has indeed been icluded, thanks GG!

mack,

C:\Windows\hosts.sam is a sample file. Your customized file should just be named "hosts"

The contents of the hosts file should be:

127.0.0.1 localhost
216.239.33.100 toolbarqueries.google.com

Still 692 on all three here in Alaska. I do see a loss in backward links but no new pages.

pebbles, several weeks old confirms the dance. like all of my cached pages, it isn't the most recent, but it is more recent than the previous cached pages of the current database. that is what you should be looking for. Compare www.google.com cache to www-ex.google.com cache

I just looked at my cached version on www-ex.google.com and saw that it's someone else's site! Out of curiosity, I checked other cached versions of SERP results on the page, and most weren't for the sites I was clicking on.

Any ideas on that? Maybe Google is just having problems with that data center.

I can see my backlinks on -ex finally! Must mean I've moved up to a PR4 :) Woohoo! And I've finally got a directory listing! :D

nmjudy--

i noted that too earlier in the thread. i'm seeing the first couple of results in the serps to have incorrect caches; the ones after those are ok

On Ex, when I click on our cached pages, I get other companies' sites! At least five different sites out of 10 cached pages that I tried.

Anyone else seeing this?

Any idea why?
