Could be a penalty, could be that because google is reindexing its dropped the listings for a short while. Google does this sometimes if it is a relavivly new site.

Either that or you have been penalised for something. It could of course be something as minor as you dont have the content to get listings etc.

DO you have listings in any other SE's?

GG...about two weeks into creating my site I did submit my URL, but just my index page. So you would suggest submitting more than just an index page? :)...Oh, and in answering your previous post, yes, my site is brand spanking new :)

Incidentally, to quote from the "most competitive keyword" thread, the old index had:

satan - 2,350,000
saddam - 2,390,000

The new index has:

satan - 2,350,000
saddam - 3,940,000

which is a 64% growth since the last update.

>>I redesigned his website and now he is #3 on the EX server IN NATURAL LISTINGS for the phrase he currently pays $6/click on Overture for<<

It's not a direct saving from where i sit. "Paid listings" such as PPC, premium, etc. are generally displayed on the part of the page that is most likely to attract people primed to buy. "Natural listings" as you put it, are placed in the part of the page most attractive to "information seekers". And of course with Overture you get placed on some sites (such as AV etc) where a Google placement counts for nothing, though of course with a placement in Google you will get in places that your ov listing will not get you seen.

There is no direct correlation between the value and cost of a click on PPC with the value of a position in the Google index just for these reasons from the analyses we run. I suspect you will have to continue paying OV (or Adwords) to get similar ROI.

These sites are new sites so they dont have listing in other SE's

I'd appreciate any spam reports of pages with hidden text or hidden links over the next couple weeks. If you've already submitted a report on a page, you don't need to re-submit it though

GG does that mean that you are about to crack this spamming technique - you will have the eternal sympathy of many of WW members!;)

There may have been a lot more mentions of saddam in the last month. SARS jumped from 304K pages to 394K pages or so and the results are more relevant now.

Sathish, if the sites are new then it can just take time. Take a page from davewray and make sure that you submit the root pages of your sites on our add url form. davewray, if you already submitted the root page, you don't need to do any other extra submissions.

Wow, submitted a Spam report to AltaVista yesterday and got a reply and the site was removed from the index less than 12 hours later... impressive.

Just submitted the same spam report to Google after seeing this update and the spam still present... do Google spam-penalties usually take one month/update to process, if indeed they do penalize said site?

Amazing how well this spam has helped them in rankings with Google, AV, Inktomi, etc...

To spam, or not to spam: that is the question
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to...

I just hope www2 is right. It has made Christmas come early for me after months in the Siberian winter (but I have worked hard for it).

canuck, we definitely aim more for the algorithmic approach than manually removing a site on request.

Hiya happy guyz,

Sorry if this question has been ask numerous times, I have done fantastically well in this dance but no change in PR will this take a while to show or is it as is? I went from 62 pages in google to 963 along with an increase in links.

Thanks,

I think Brett likes to break threads into manageable 300 message chunks. :)

Personally, I set my preferences to 75 messages per screen. Makes it a lot easier to follow the conversations. :)

Hmmmm...I didn't realize webmasters weren't "allowed" to exhibit a "human" side :) I'm glad my site has so many pages indexed...I'm aiming for the hundreds next update. Also time to start hitting the pavement in terms of link relationships too :)

For a rather major keyword (18 800 000 results) I get a strange result at #17. This is in the new index at www2.google, etc.

The url says www.qksrv.net/click-xxxxxx-xxxxxxx. A CJ (affiliate) link! Probably nothing to worry about, but I have not seen this before.

Somebody seen anything like this?

GoogleGuy, it seems you have done some spam fighting.

For a quite big keyword (18 800 000 results), some sites were previously holding pos 3-9 & 13. These sites had essentially duplicated content and used heavy cross-linking.

Now they only have pos 3. I love it!

GG: understood about the algo approach to spam removal. Manual removals on a 3billion+ database would be nasty. Maybe my bringing attention will help the algo tho! ;) *completely-altruistic!*

I just hate seeing webpages over 200K with more than half of it spam! :o
