Have been waiting for google's pending update but didn't get any on that. From last two days I have noticed extreme changes in search results for same google domain (like .com or .de or .nl etc.) with different interface language selected (like hl=de or hl=en or hl=nl). When you change the interface language the whole bunch of results are different.
Is this the actual update this time? Enabling the geo centric data which google wanted to implement for better localization? If yes (and if someone else is also seeing this change) then may be we can all identify the parameters of this new change, like language, servers in geographical locations or extensions (.de, .nl etc.)

The only DC I can see showing anywhere near decent search results is [216.239.57.99...]
I have been watching the result set that they have now "chosen" for the past week or so.
I still can't believe they they have gone with them.
To be honest the results have been total crap since,
early Sept but this is just the worst I have ever seen in my area!...incredible.
A search for my products yeilds the sites that link to me and my site on page 20!..
Can't be bothered to go into examples here, and I am sick of sending emails to Google.
My little old sites are organic, legit, and sell my OWN product for!"·$% sake!
This product is now only availble via MSN and Yahoo as of today..good luck Google, I think you may need it in the coming months.
Also, if Reseller claims the naming rights I would like to say that on August 4th I identifed what I am now thinking was the initial stirrings on this update from the Google HQ and called it update 'Spink'. After Nigel Spink, goalkeeper for Aston Villa when they won the European Cup in 1982.
LONG LIVE 'UPDATE SPINK'
NOW, what shows up today! It's nothing comparable to what I saw for the past weeks, THIS IS OBJECTIVELY the most crappy SERP overall I've seen...not the last I'm afraid. One word: r-i-d-i-c-u-l-o-u-s.
However it might not be the end and it could be a simple glitch before final results. Still, I wonder what the hell these guys, so arrogant, think they are doing.
Nice opportunity for MSN and Yahoo...
>>do people think that this update is now complete or is there a chance it could change yet?!?.<<
I guess, it isnīt completed yet. What you see is another stage/phase of Update Bacon Polenta.
Expect the kind GoogleGuy to enter the building soon and post a weather report.
Goooooooooooooogle.. you rock! ;-)
"The results are crap" are crap posts. All I see is a few more irrelevant results, a few more expired/changed-content domains, the usual new truckloads of supplemental listings, and trivial movement on the datacenters.
I could only WISH for some big changes. The algo is nailed to the floor. Zero fundamental changes. When lost sites coming and going is the only thing going on, plus the "addition" of more pages from mid-2004, that doesn't make for a very interesting day.
>>Instead of rants attempting to stir a pot that more than stirs itself, if anyone sees changes in their sectors it would be helpful to observe something about common factors.<<
Ok. Mr. Supplementals :-)
Honestly Steve. Lets forget update/non-update for a moment.
What is your qualified detailed judgment on the serps on this lady?
[64.233.171.99...]
Thanks a bunch.
The number of results returned is good,
they just got them...err... in the wrong order!
:))
>>? The results on that datacenter are the same sort of results on all of them.<<
Thanks for feedback. Much appreciated.
>>If I had a nickel for every time you mention a datacenter without saying anything about why you spent the time typing it, I'd have a helluva lot more nickels.<<
I guess Iīm gonna make you very rich soon :-)
Just a mess really.
Reseller - I assume some of your pages are back - if they are supplementals then I would not be to encouraged.
There must be a correction to the mess sooner or later.
I had a site that suddenly started to recieve visitors - checked the serps - supplementals from about a year ago - no good for me, or Google - those visitors soon dried up.
If normal pages are ranking again - good for you - although I would not trust Google for long. :)
We used to get great rankings (1st or second) with a query such as: Dallas Beds
Now, we're totally blown out of the water.. show up no-where under that query. HOWEVER, we show us as #1 if you quote the thing: "Dallas Beds"... oh, and THAT result, #1, is from the "supplementals".
Why would a search engine return miscellaneous results more associated with the single words than the the two used togeter. Ie, we see a lot of results for "Dallas" and "Beds", but none where both are paired.
Just seems strange and was wondering if anyone else has observed the same?
>>If normal pages are ranking again - good for you - although I would not trust Google for long. :) <<
Actually my site is still gradually recovering from that nasty hit of 22nd July 2005 (and after being hit by Allegra).
The current events since 22nd Sept 2005 have little impact on my site.
However, I have noticed recently that one of my pages (guess you know which one ;-)) with affiliate programs reviews regained position #1 on most of the DCs after it had spent a lifetime prison at 300+ positions. And that what I consider encouraging news to all fellow affiliates and affiliate program marketing. Which means that Google isnīt targeting ALL affiliate marketing sites.
But as you mentioned correctly.. things can change very quickly and no one can feel safe nowadays ;-)
These search engines are the only ones that index deeply (unless u get lucky with MSN) - so Clusty is very limited.
CONGRATS.. thats what I call GOOD NEWS..
And no update without a song from Tina "The Queen". Shouldnīt we 3 sing together then :-)
Oh Google!
I call you when I need you, my site's on fire
You come to me, come to me wild and wild
When you come to me
Give me the rankings I need
Give me a top position and a world of dreams
Speak a language of SEO like you know what it means
And it can't be wrong
Take my site and make it strong baby
Oh Google!
You're simply the best, better than all the rest ...
You get so excited about 1 page maybe returning in the serps....
Google clearly is not the best at the moment.
I am going to run some tests on my sites - shame Googlebot is not crawling them though.
I will report back here if any improvements and what the test were in a week or so I guess.
Traffic from Google is still way down but its just nice to see our site back.
Its been a long couple of weeks- Google I still ahve faith
As someone wanted specifics.
Our site is 6 yrs old.
Organic one way links (apart from 4 recips)I get say 2 link requests a week but caution has stopped me taking them up
link back shows 149 sites linking
Do link out freely where appropriate
