as I mentioned at noon J3 is only at those DC's
64.233.189.104
66.102.7.104
66.102.9.104
66.102.11.104
216.239.53.104
216.239.57.104
216.239.63.104
no moved yet to others

I am seeing very different results at the dc's you mentioned. I am also seeing differences in the serps among the original 4 jagger3 dc's. The first shift I have seen in days. Did someone press a button at the conference?

Mods...

How about renaming this thread to:

Trashcan - get rid of the useless posts nobody else wants!

Or, just lock it, PLEASE!

newkid, if the posts are useless to you...stop reading the thread. Pretty simple solution for you.

gee newkid2005, you can just not read it if it is useless.

Just stop using the the little clicky thing under your clicky finger.

I love to watch folks learn about load balancing, cursor instability, and massive world wide db rollouts.

You might learn a couple of things yourself.

I'm liking 66.102.7.104.

I'm just looking forward to this update finally finishing though.

Markoi, you may want to add your webmastworld nick when you submit spam reports, Googleguy and his team were very fast acting against spammers I reported.
Assuming the spam you reported is real spam it shall be reviewed and penalized.

The only case they did not fix yet is the one of a large spam "network" but they are working on it and obviously the task is not that easy.

I just reported another hidden text/links spammer myself and hopefully it will be reviewed soon.

There might be a roll out coming soon....we may expect Googleguy and Matt Cutts posting some weather report before tomorrow IMO.

Typical of google to add weight to all the directory sites again, put them all back in the index nice and high in the serps.

Joke.

The results last week were fine, now they are adding back into the mix some real cr@p, old cr@p non relevent at that! with plenty of directory sites.

Also, the amazon affiliate sites must have complained so they are all doing well again.

This latest roll out is dire imo.

And with that drops my traffic 50% during J3

During J1 and J2 my traffic was up 25%

Traffic fell again :\

now a non existing site supplemental [returning can't be reached titel just a dash -] and the spamnetwork is before me ...

Everytime they fix one hole another one seems to open ...

Hopefully this will all be fixed before the end of it. Although seeing as how this is J3 and not 1 or 2... not so positive.

They need to fix it PDQ or reverse what they are currently doing.

Results are now ugly.

These Jagger threads contain a lot of useful information and a lot of BS too.

An old boss used to tell me "Ken, stop talking BS and instead, give me results!"

I found an interesting way to test Google vs. Yahoo results.

In 1990, Brenton Schlender, at the time working for Fortune Magazine, wrote an interesting article titled "How Bill Gates Keeps The Magic Going".

Suppose a student has to do some research and he-she is given said article as a source of information.

What are the student's first sources of information at home?

I guess Google, Yahoo and MSN.

The student searches for "How Bill Gates Keeps The Magic Going Brenton Schlender" without the quotes.

Google returns a bunch rubish plus a lot of useless supplemental results.

Yahoo goes directly to the source. No rubish, no useless results.

In this academic search sample, Yahoo beats the hell out of Google!

Will Jagger 3 help Google?

The student didn't bother to check MSN ...

definetely think we are going to see J3 spreading with usual flux for a week or so. I finally see my favorite (college) book site moving back where it was supposed to be after being wiped out for whatever reason (supplementals/hijack?)

Wait and see...but probably someone pressed the red button at googleplex.

>>zapfile:
1- the student should have bothered using msn
2- I'm happy to see yahoo useful for at least one query
3- Very soon Yahoo will be useful only for that particular query IMO - Useless search engines/directory BS updates overall :)

Hey...just IMO - not trying to say I am right, I just feel that Yahoo is soon to be fogotten and MSN keeps it up with closing by Google's algo.

"I just feel that Yahoo is soon to be fogotten and MSN keeps it up with closing by Google's algo."

Bill Gates said in 1991 "You have to know when to hold back. If the takeoff curve in something is very gradual, then the early guys who pay extra money and take extra risk aren't protected."

Microsoft can wait 1 or 2 more years to make MSN Search function as Gates has today in mind.

The real competition now is between Google and Yahoo.

Just think, so much money spent by Yahoo to acquire Altavista, AllTheWeb and Overture.

And so much money generated in Google's IPO.

IMHO, a site that performs well in Google and Yahoo today, is in good shape for future Jaggers.

Lets go back to topic ...

Basically that's what I meant, now Y! is still important as far as traffic but soon in th future (2/3 years is soon enough) if they keep it that way they will loose their market shares.

Yap, going back to the topic...not much excitement here anymore - funny cause J3 seems to spread a little :)

>> Just think, so much money spent by Yahoo to acquire Altavista, AllTheWeb and Overture.

most of it was in stock, I think, so it really doesn't matter much. Y! got a small fortune from Google for the Overture patents--in addition to the revenue it gets each month. Let's just say that Yahoo was extremely smart.

For the keywords I watch, J3 is now producing a sizeable crop of irrelevant results. Old sites and directories are benefiting. On topic sites are suffering.

I'm shocked if this is what the Google search team has taken over a month to produce. Search results are worse now than before the update saga began.

Never ending saga :). This Update has shown all the loop holes the world's biggest Search engine has. I am sorry Google, but you are growing to be worse & worse.

More priority for redirections, subdomains, spam.......
never ending spam saga continues......

Looks like the "domain age" knob has been turned up in the latest flux.

Just had a nice suprise - google.co.uk results have improved 200% for my industry (and my site of course)...obviously things can, and probably will change but this is the first step in the right direction for my site in the last 6 weeks!

I don't know if this helps, but the changes I have made in the past week are:
1) Changed META descriptions so they don't repeat on every page as much
2) Reduced META keywords on every page
3) Changed all page titles so I don't repeat my company's slogan on every page
4) Implemented a 301 redirect
5) Tidied up my links and removed any dead links
6) Found a couple of sites who were copying my content and asked them to remove it (which they did)
7) Re-designed my website footer so i didn't repeat certain words. ie, I design things so the footer had "blue widget design", "red widget design" etc etc - so every page had "widget design" showing a lot at the bottom

Like I said, the way things have been going lately, I still expect them to change but if they star (and I ope they do), then maybe the above did help in some way!?
