The same down-and-on problem here in Turkey.
But j3 goes on and off. No steady results. At least three different sets:

- First off, Matt is a member of these forum just like you and I and desereves to be addressed with respect (TOS)
- Matt and GoogleGuy have been kind to update us on this and previous updates. When some of us recall what Matt or GG said, because its just happened that the to kind members are our source and contact to Google. For example, its great of Matt to remind us of the test-DC where there was doubt about it.
- You are not forced at all to read all posts. We live in a free community, you know.
- You can always agree and disagree with other kind members postings, but decent language and politeness wouldn't harm you at all.

GG won't be posting today - he's on the phone with his broker. Google stock lost 5 points yesterday.

Some might say that this forum has run its course. The S/N ratio has been getting worse in recent months.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this forum, for putting up with my anti-spam ranting. I don't think this forum has come to an end yet ... plenty more twists and turns in this latest update.

But that said, many webmasters, even very senior ones, sometimes feel a need to frequent the update threads when updates shake things up.
And aside from some who pop in on an "as needed" basis, some of our best and savviest members come into update threads on a regular basis, either to educate, or drop little nuggetts for those really paying attention. (Strangely, often the best posts go almost entirely unacknowledged, I guess because the hints aren't taken.)
Yes, the G update threads could benefit greatly from less repetition, and fewer posts along the lines of "my site is up so G is great" or "my site got blasted so G sucks" kinds of posts.
But there is an important exchange of information that goes on here, from DC watching, to honest and insightful observations; sometimes by established members, and sometimes by newer members. Plus, different members contribute in different ways, and everyone should stay mindful that even someone who irritates you today, could save your butt tomorrow, with an useful, perhaps even offhanded comment...
For me personally, the update threads, love 'em or hate 'em, are an important part of what makes WebmasterWorld a great community. Sharing info and observations, and sometimes just sharing the pain, is a great thing.
As for when one update starts or ends, and another begins, or what an update even IS anymore ... that's a whole 'nother matter. ;-)

LOL... except I really don't think that the guys at google pay much attention to threads like this, that would imply that they actually take the time to read them, maybe right when they are in the thick of things, but after that, there's better things to do.
As for the rest of your advice, what can you say, some people get it and some people don't, I'll have to work on following that a bit better than I've done, others here might think of doing the same. Or not.
Re the topic, still seeing movement, my best guess at this point is that more click through tracking of serps is happening, that would in my case account for the continuing movement I'm seeing, stuff that is dropping was not a great match, stuff that is rising is a good match.
Rather than spend some fairly unproductive time reading this stuff every day, take a look at the google trustrank whitepaper and the historical march 31 patent application, your reading time will be much more effectively spent.

This is indeed a strange tendency, even when you try to point out to people these best posts, they still go ignored by almost all the posters. makes it hard to understand just what it is most of the posters in update threads are actually trying to achieve by posting, doesn't look like figuring out the question is very high on their priorities, but that's life.
The gems make it worth it, but these jagger threads were brutal, jagger 2 I think it was may have had something like 10-20 out of 1000 posts that revealed any significant information. Am I the only one who's thought of editing these for fun and profit?

I have just noticed that the "old" cache which have been there through most of today have just been updated to reflect fresh cache (within the sector I watch).

You're right, especially as webmastering can be a very solitary occupation. I would imagine most are working alone and appreciate the regular contact with others in the same position. Of course threads like these sometimes become rather like a slow speed chatroom, but they are a useful point of contact and anyone who doesn't appreciate the noise levels can always abstain.
I think reseller would have made a great lighthousekeeper.

That datacenter has tossed out some crap for awhile, then gone back to being just like other datacenters. It will probably do that for months or at least weeks. Something to think a bit about, but that's about it.

If your site is dumped by Google it is very helpful to read on in this slow speed chat. It is like a shelter where everyone is waiting until the storm passes over :-) Hope it will do so.

Noticed that site is ranking for 3 kw since last week in most of the DC except this test DC [64.233.179.104....]
IMHO Google is not satisfied with the Jagger 3 update results. So they are experimenting with the results on a DC which is termed as Test DC.
Is this experiment on test DC will be called as Jagger 4 Update?
For my sites I still get different results on the following DCs to the rest:-
216.239.59.104,
64.233.183.104,
66.102.11.104,
66.102.9.104,
66.249.85.104,
66.249.87.104
But it has been that way for 2 weeks now so cant see them spreading.
Google also lost the site ordering on virtually all dcs for some of my sites (other sites remain ordered)

Like Yahoo and most unaffected sites still have - eg. Homepage top followed by internals in a logical(ish) order.

Your site for example does not have the homepage top on any DC (and has not since the ordering came into effect)
