I predict that the update is gonna ruin some people and it will make others rich..

This DC reveils it all [googlestockquote.com]

If the update ruins anyone then it's their own fault for having such a crummy business plan and not adapting quickly to new conditions. Blaming Google may feel good but it's not going to bring traffic back.

Ankhenaton.. thats already the case with the 'sandbox'
authority domain owners are smiling all the way to the bank, well reasonably new people to the Internet have to struggle .. until the time comes that Google see's them as an 'authority' ;)

people were correct a few years ago "nows the time to get on the net'~ they werent lying.
now everyone has an aim in life on the net' to become a Google authority domain/website. no one said it was gonna be easy'

FWIW...

In one of the previous vast slab of is-this-an-update? I posted a search for a specific modem that revealed a no-longer-available site above my current site in the SERPs. Re-checking, there are currently 2 sets of results, one with lots of this not-available site (and thus old) and one with few (and thus new):

New about 218 results for the no longer exisitng site

Old (about 3,750 results for the no longer exisitng site

These DCs, 64.233.183.104 and 64.233.183.99 also have a new feature under [i]Advanced Search

Usage Rights: Return results that Have any copyright...

Good morning Folks!

What?

Are you still talking DCs :-)

And I thought that when I wake up will see Jagger3.

Ok. I hear GoogleGuy on his way to give us a Jagger3 weather report.

Good morning to you GG.

Still no Jagger3.

I agree -- I think people are seeing Jagger2 in the middle of a roll-out to all DCs and are thinking it is a new set of results, but I still have not seen Jagger2 completed on all DCs. By my count it is at about 22, and the rest are moving to where the original is.

I concur Powerofeyes

"I see complete new sets of results in this DC,
[66.102.7.99...]

The results of THAT data centre I can live with! :)

From my perspective I'm stuck with two boats one foot in each trying to stay dry, floating on a lake in choppy water! Still, at least i can see the shoreline ;-)

I think with this update, the thing to keep in mind is a) don't panic and monitor
b) when it looks like all hope is lost or you've achieved the holy grail! refer to a)

Background:
::::::::::::::::::
I have two sites, 1 established and consistently(over 2 years) 1st - 3rd place results for a single Keyword out of 3M results and a new site which is optimised for a 3 word key phrase in an area heavily populated by the local search directories and many spurious at best related pages for the key words in question.

Since the update the new site has jumped from nowhere to a top result or 2nd place, but shows no back links.
The established site has dropped to 10th or worse except in the datacentere above where both do well.

In the case of the new site there are still a lot of local search engine listed pages.
In the case of the established sites, some listing above mine relate to a single page about the keyword in question from a site which is directory of such pages.

:::::::::::
Except that is in the results in the datacentre above, there the results are cleaner, I'd like to hear other peoples views on this datacentre for their sites.

Thanks powerofeyes.

For now, taking my own advice I'll sit on my hands and abide by rule a and b! :-)

::::::::::::::::::::::

PS there is some useful comments in this thread but (and I don't know about you guys) I tire of the tales of woe and find it tedious wading through the sob sob stories to view comments with at least some point to the content.
As the rules don't permit specifics of sites and posting of URLS why do people continue to winge away pointlessly? It helps no one as far as i can see, execept to create long threads!

g'morning guys,

I don't think that 66.102.7.99 is neither jagger3 nor the most updated DC.

Well, I'm getting tired of all this public relation type of thing from google anyways :)

I think they are the ones to watch. We have regained many positions on these data centres but not all. I suspect new data is filtering in as we watch.

I have better PR, relevant text backlinks, better relevant keyword saturation. My site is older than most, it has been at position 5-6 on page 1 for my main keyword for two years. Now it's page 2 pos 11-16. What other factors are being calculated... this update is disasterous, I'm the only one on page 1 that has moved at all... all the lesser sites are still there. What logic are they applying to this?
