i must be being really dense here but i don't understand. in all the DC addresses being given in this thread, we are either where we were before jagger (ie number 1 and 2) or on page 3 and beyond.

The last one given as the 'closest to the final' (ie, 216.239.59.104) has us back as number 1 and 2. So I get all relieved again, but i know another post will give me a different DC and we'll be back on page 3.

I don't understand the theory etc behind all this. What is happening between them all? how can anyone tell which one is the final? how can you be on page 1 on one set and page 3 on another set? I thought google tested on a few sets and then went live on all the others if the results look ok.

If you're number 1 for blue widgets on 216.239.59.104 but on page 3 for the same term on a different DC, am i right in saying nobody really understands why or where it is all going and i should just wait till its all over? and if so, how does anyone know when its all over?

Sorry for such a long post, but this is driving me crazy...

IMO Jagger 3 is still biding it's time. Some of us will be winners, some losers. We can only hope we all get what we deserve!

Joop

Ignore anyone who says such and such a DC is the closest to the final unless they are GG or MC for now (IMO :))

Google is moving data between centers - more data is still to be added.

So a little bit more confusion to come ;)

thanks Dayo_UK

does this mean that if on some of those DC's the results are not what i want, (ie, where we were before), all is not lost?

thanks again for your patience with me!

Yes, all is not lost. More data is still to come - it could make or break a lot of sites.

We all need a dose of Googleguy right now to put us out of our misery. Perhaps if we say his name 3 times...

>>JooP

I totally feel you on what you were saying. My stomach has never been more upset since I've been working in this field.

But like Dayo_UK says...just wait for Matt or GG to post, and then let yourself go crazy.

Joop
how does anyone know when its all over?

Matt Cutts has done a fair job thus far in providing tidbits on the status of Jagger(X). I would think he'd be excited to post a blog entry about the end of the update cycle. (mattcutts.com/blog

Don't say it three times! If you do, you will be transported to GoogleGuy world, a boundless maelstrom of billions of pages all shouting 'I am the one!' Jeez, I need some sleep.

So we just wait?

That’s it, best thing you can do, avoid the temptation to start changing things. Never change things during an update, then you will never know what caused your fortune or misfortune.

Google is just messing with you; they know the mind of the SEO inclined webmaster is weak, so there scrambling your thoughts, trying to control you. Think about, how much search engine manipulating did you get done today?

Go for a beer, (or three or four) step outside have a smoke, whatever; we’ll all know soon enough.

Sorry to cause confusion, just trying to get my prediction in. The DCs are moving around, but I still think I know where this update is headed. I see basically 4 major different sets of results showing in the different DCs(of course there are many others as well). One old results, one extreme results, one testing with new additions and sites brought back because of tech problems, and one that is basically the final with a little minor shuffling. There are other sets, but these are the main ones. For me, it's over in the sense that I'm pretty sure where this thing is going. I could be way off, but this is my conclusion until we hear from someone at Google.

the thing is spaceylacie I really really like you. i mean Really. cos whenever you give the 'this is the final as i see it', my site is up there in position 1, so you can see why i really really like you.

but i know the next post is going to be a contradiction on what you've posted so i have to wait i suppose....

so, if the results are exactly the same for my search terms on the different DCs that you give except on one set my site is on page one, and the other it's on page 3 (but all the ones below me when i'm on page 1 are exactly the same just all moved up one position) could be just down to a 'technical issue'?

damn... i said i was going to WAIT!

>> [64.233.161.99...]

That is the datacentre that has had "ancient supplemental" results on it for several months.... a completely different set of supplemental results than is seen at other datacentres.

So if people can't buy links any more, can they then buy links to their competitors and nuke them out of Google? What's the se reaction to that?

This whole backlink thing is no win situation. Then we will see people sleeping with the webmasters ;) of the trustranked sites. Competition is sooo refreshing.

Mmmmm... I was reading some stuff from Matt's Blog and came across a link that says to report scrapers, click on the "Ads by Goooooogle" on their site and fill out a report that includes "jagger1" and "scraper" in the text. I then went and used copyscape and found a bunch of scraper sites that are blatantly ripping off not only my homepage text, but the text from a bunch of sites. I clicked on the "Ads by Goooooogle" and it took well over 5 minutes for the page to load. Could it be that the G is being bombarded by too many spam reports? I find this interesting.

GG!?!

Looks like we've got a near-riot here at WebmasterWorld. Webmasters are starting to gnaw off their mouse cords, early Jagger threads are disappearing, and overdoses on leftover Halloween candy are taking this ADD crowd over the top. Only you can save us from a mental massacre.

Goes to show you how much Goofle deals with Public Relations, it's about G__le people nothing else, we are just tag-alongs, all of us. There is no posts by them unless to request things that will only help them.

Sites that have "Search Engine Optimization by..."
