internetdude, to the best of my knowledge Google never published an update schedule. We sometimes think it's early or late, but only because our predictions were wrong. It's just ready when it's ready.
Formerly removed or penalized spammers seem to be the winners again. They are back without any changes made to their sites. I don't want to go into details ... don't want to start another spam discussion. But i'm curious if i'm the only one who makes this observation!?
- hidden links, alt text stuffing, linked 1x1 images can boost a site again up to #1
- dodgy cloaking and redirects for dummies no longer gets penalized
- crosslinking of tons of domains works great again
- guestbook only backlinks can still make a site #3
BTW: Allthough it's been discussed a lot and disclaimed many times, i feel that buying adwords *could* result in a reinclusion for removed or penalized sites. One guy whose 200+ sites have been penalized, purchased a lot of adwords for about two months (two update cycles). Now, he's back in the coming index with exactly the same garbage he purchased the adwords for - plus his sites that are crosslinked from there. That's at least strange and opens doors for such thoughts, no!?
Or is it just because of a missing line in the new algo code?
and offer some agreement in accordance to what we discussed here in this thread [webmasterworld.com].
I have found that as Everflux happens, some spammers rejoin, only to disappear shortly therafter. I have no idea if everyone sees this, but it surely isn't only me!
Given that this update has fresh tags in it, maybe part of the problem is the one mentioned above and in the other thread.
I dropped backlinks big time, from 532 to 194. Hopefully it will add them back in later in the dance.
At least I can see that my Google Directory entry is now in there. I had been expecting it to kick up my backlink count by giving me more internal pages with higher PR.
Oh well, it's the SERPs that count and all the new content and deep links should keep my site traffic growing.
15 minutes ago i started a new thread about this since i'd say, that's a important question. Unfortunalety my post is either lost due to a db error or i has been deleted by a mod. In the second case i would expect a short sticky mail but it could be that the mods are so hardly dealing with the current load that they first organize, merge and delete the threads here at WebmasterWorld and then send their explanations out to the members.
<added>Oohps, my thread was merged with this one ... yaaawn ...</added>

I have a feeling that it is a freshbot issue, and that they are trying to sort it out. My (very very unknowledgeable) guess is that they got the freshies out there doing faster crawling which results in noticeable changes to the SERPS. At some point I think something got tweaked in one place and maybe not another, cause, at least in my cases, the spam only returns once every odd freshdate.
Vmaster:
My pages either stayed the same or moved up a notch. Whohooo!

I think you've got that right.
My main site's home page has been bouncing between PR6 and PR5. As it was PR6 last update I have a bad feeling about this. :( Inbound links haven't dropped. It looks to me like PR may have dropped across the board this update. Thus, your PR may be down, but so are your competitors.
