Absolutely stunning! In order for any educated analysis to occur, one must have a baseline of information.
And, if your baseline of information is "well, I was #6, now I'm #10", then gee, your in for a heck of a ride on a train that is on one way trip. Good luck getting back!
I'd rather be armed with a pleathora of information about where I and my competitors started and also where we ended up. Then, I'd like to know why. And, the only way to complete that analysis is to determine the commonalities between the two.
People, in statistical analysis circles, this is simply called finding the "expected value" through choosing "fixed and random effects" of a mixed model.
Now, I'm going to bed. I'll see you guys in another week or so. I'm going to go make some more cash.
Go thee forth and prosper.
I've been in this business for 18 years, but I still can't churn out 50 sites in 2 months, so it seems you get the cherry for that one. Congratulations! ;))
This forum has been full of people telling us how they've been affected throughout this update, as well as steps they have taken, and the subsequent results they have seen. This has provided valuable feedback from many different areas, which would otherwise not be available. For me, at least, this has been most welcome and I thank everyone for taking the time to post here.
To those that can't tolerate the general chit-chat that surrounds these relevant posts, I say find yourselves another forum and be happy!
Your comments about setting a baseline and comparing after the changes are made are well taken.
And your comments about paying attention to the store and putting up new content and sites are well taken.
Your attempt to set people back on their feet and start thinking and working instead of working up a panic are well taken.
See you next week.

Looks like you are a bit of a novice in high profile forums. Agreed? You saw his/hers sign up date, right?

Absolutely stunning! In order for any educated analysis to occur, one must have a baseline of information. My point is, that if you know the serps before the update, that is all you need since the other factors would all have been constant. And, if your baseline of information is "well, I was #6, now I'm #10", then gee, your in for a heck of a ride on a train that is on one way trip. Good luck getting back!
Personally, I look forward to his return; it's about time someone who knew what they were talking about started hanging out here.
;)
In my real life when I meet people that have nothing good to say about anything, I just leave them and pray to almighty God to cure their minds and open their eyes.
BradStevens is such a pesrson, and he really need much of our prayers. God Bless BradStevens soul!
PLease...Lets go back to discuss Jagger update, and that what this thread is all about.
But yes, back to the topic.....
For what I am noticing is that Google is giving more value to the home page, decreasing link value, increasing 2nd and 3rd level page relevancy with links from the root page and more emphasis on a sites age more than ever.
If you already knew this don't flame my a$$...My wife already does it enough! :>~
And for once I am seeing better SERP's than ever. I don't know what everyone else see's but take my opinion like a grain of salt.
This thread needs to address EXACTLY what emphasis Google is placing on sites. Correct me if I'm wrong! :>
Also it appears to me Jag3 is in full swing on every datacenter.
>>Reseller>>>> Not much to talk about :-( Its basically a case of lets hang around and wait for Jagger to move across all DC's. <<
You mightbe right ;-)
However, at this stage of Jagger update we might need to ask ourselves; how come that an update which has started for around a month ago hasn't migrated completely to other DCs?
Or is it the case that the "successful" part of update Jagger is already out there fluxing on the rest of the DCs and there will be no more to come and that what we have to live with untill the next update arrives (maybe sometime in Feb. 2006).

>> Something big and good is going to happen today.
I hope..
Am I completely off the mark here?
As for me, I'll continue to check in here once a week and read the last page of posts. It is there that I can find all I need to know!
Why would you need or want to? What is it you need to know, seeing as you appear to know enough? Could there actually be information here that might benefit you?
Judging by your statements you have the upperhand in terms of knowledge over what has happened in the G updates as referred by your "you guys" mentality. Remeber Brad, not everyone is great at putting together information an comparing for the purposes of analysis. This being said, it doesnt hurt to ask, or talk, and this is what people are doing - discussing. Some are new at the game, others are veterans.
How many people here printed the source code of the top 30 sites in each keyword of interest before Jagger executed? Because, that's a key "ingredient" of the stew.
Useful, if you feel that a major aspect of this updates is in regards to concentraction, stemming and keyword use and dilution, which any seasoned SEO could tell you it is not.
Obvious major factors stemming from the Google patent -spam factors, www vs non www factors, supps and canon issues as well as link age, link building rate and theming.
Hey but what do I know, maybe you might learn something here?
Incidently when i catch adverts warning benefit frauds that the government is on their tail, or see a sign that a speed trap is in operation on a certain road i know that benefit fraud is rising and the police have no resources to actually deploy a speed trap on that road.

but what's about migration of 66.102.9.104 to other data centers?
maybe next year 2015?
thats the frustrating part, I've seen this as well and "some" sites that are within my sectors are flourishing that I know are involved in mass link exchanges - others like myself and many other webmasters here that I've spoken too have just played the old game of link building and are now dropped to the 4th pages
If I sound like I'm rambling & confused its because I am and trying to get a head on what G does & doesn't except regarding linking is a massive pain in the XXX. and please don't say build links naturally and just let people link to you with e-com/affiliate/commercial sites it just doesn't happen
