My website has plenty of outbound links, but they are on relevant pages. The problem my site has always had, was a lack of "inbound links." I got tired of searching for people to link to me (with all the spammy sites around) and gave up. So my pages have acquired some links naturally I guess(and I'll bet I still don't have more than 30 inbound links for the whole site) Still have a PR4, which I've had since it disappeared in Nov.

BTW - still not seeing the crawl activity I would like.
In the range of 30-40% of my site listed.
Cheers

>Anyone else seeing this (or am i going crazy (which is possible)<
Many have been seeing this since allegra and they have already written tens and tens of posts describing the same.
What you see is nothing less than the magic of the rotating algos ;-)

This is not a spammy site and services a small niche with very relevant listings.
In conclusion Google is broken.
Nope totally different.
Rotating algo theory (which I dont believe in ;)) means pages rank higher and lower on keyword searches. It does not mean that pages disappear - I mean disappear for a while and then come back (Disappear - as in search for the url string eg: www.domain.com/thispage.com and Google returns a result saying :-
Sorry, no information is available for the URL www.domain.com/thispage.htmlIf the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link: www.domain.com/thispage.html
Find web pages that contain the term "www.domain.com/thispage.html"
EG - Google does not even know the page exists. (As if it has never been crawled)
EG. Google having problems holding on to crawled data (Well perhaps not problems - perhaps this is a new way of working - but you dont expect pages to disappear after such a short while)

If it is rotating algos, then I guess if I ever use google again for searching information I need to find out the time of day when the best algo is being used.
I know we should wait until this update is over before we make any judgements, but this thing has been going on for almost 3 weeks. That is a long time. My only conclusion is that something has gone terribly wrong. Google is in crisis.
This makes no sense, and probably is the heart of your problem.
"No one has a clue of what's going on."
You and many others have been told precisely the area of the problem you are facing, but you just ignore the comments, despite the fact that many come from peope who have experienced the exact same thing in previous updates.
Of course this won't explain everybody's problems, but the commonality in the complaints posted here generally points to the same old problems.
"Guys, I don't think this www Vs non-www means anything."
More the pity. Stop raging at the winds and fix the issue that has caused problems for thousands of others for more than a year.
<Some guy named Guido should come with webmasterworld registration who "requires" you to read previous threads before posting...>
So basicly half my site (the ones i can see page rank in the toolbar) is still in the index and the other half(grey bared in the toolbar) is out of the index.
To me its not hurting I have a tool that tells me exatly "who's on" the site currently and I see no drop, Im just getting more traffic from my Yahoo and MSN ranking.
On the other hand its fun to watch whatever their doing in the background.
It started off with Home Page vanishing, then 1 by 1 my other pages are vanishing. I believe it will come back, rather I hope. But this is not a trend I've seen before, with 1 page by 1 page vanishing from the index and getting grey bared. Although all grey bared pages have cache, pretty weird whats going on right now.......
I read the most recent couple of posts saying that things had turned to garbage in the past 24hrs etc, and thought 'it's been crap for awhile'.
I just took a look and it looks like there was a spam avalanche, or a spam tsunami - so much computer generated trash on so many search terms!
Wow Google, way to go 'sport'.
Suppose it is the case and there has been no admission of it publicly, why would a billion dollar baby go and admit the problem by running another update so soon to correct it.
I'm sitting tight, not changing anything and waiting for the next update.
Fingers crossed...
NOPE.
Many webmasters and mom-and-pop biz owners are dying.
Google is doing just fine - raking in the millions each and every day, and they'll continue to do so regardless of how bad their search results are.
'Joe Average Surfer' WILL continue to use Google (even if he's disappointed) because that's what he's been programmed to do.
In fact, 'Joe Average Surfer' will give up on finding what he's looking for, rather than go use another search engine like Yahoo or MSN ('IF' he even knows how to go to another engine).
Most of us here 'live' on the internet, but 'Joe Average Surfer' doesn't - he's still afraid of technology or 'pressing the wrong button', and will only do what little he is comfortable with.
Human nature....people resist change...
So thats good, not over yet, my site I disgussed before has been unchanged in the rankings for the past 1.5 years, so I doubt it will change, even though currently it has. Meaning when its finally done, I expect Ill be right back up there.
>If theres a lot of "Crap" in the Serps then most likely the Fat Lady hasn't even warmed up yet.<
We said exactly the same after allegra. The only difference was that we didnīt invite a fat lady to sing for us.
[webmasterworld.com...]
And just like this Bourbon update there were a lot of fellow members who kept telling us that the update wasnīt completed and "we should sit tight, wait and see".
Trust me the fat lady has sung and left the building and we all have to live with the current serps till the arrival of the next "Minor shuffling" followed by a new update.
I couldn't disagree more. G is tops because until recently they have delivered exceptionally good SERPs. If human "programming" were the sole reason for most folks using a particular SE, then everybody would still be using Yahoo (or AltaVista) and G would never have been invented.
G is broken. They've killed it for a few golden eggs. Joe Surfer may catch on later than pros such as us, but he will catch on.
