For example, a click on an ad for digital cameras on a web page about photography tips may be worth less than a click on the same ad appearing next to a review of digital cameras.

However,
1). It's still too early to tell.
2). I don't trust AdSense.
AdSense is just one income source from about 5 that I have, so I am not dependent on it. I will continue to shop around for other revenue sources to minimize my risk.
The best thing AdSense has done for publishers lately is the channels feature which has led me to remove AdSense from 2 content websites altogether and re-emphasize advertising for my existing advertisers that pay more.
Yidaki: I meant to say that the whole thing seems like a price discount. However, some people do seem to be making more money under the new regime so I will take it back, and go back to the "lets wait and see until the end of the month".
We had over 80,000 unique visitors last month, this will be felt.
I doubt there is a new magic formula which will increase our CTR. We seen a change about January 1 slightly reducing our CTR. I suspect they have been holding back.
I'm sure with all the smoke, mirrors and drum beating, GG has benefited ($$) with this change.
I do appreciate the notification letter from GG about this change.
I sincerely hope these changes benefit the advertisers and the overall success of the adwords advertising program.
Question for publishers who are seeing a jump in their earnings: Was your EPC quite low (e.g., single-digit) before the AdSense changes were announced?
Click thru % has been driven artificially high due to G now counting 25% fewer page views per my server stats. If they were still counting actual page views click through percentage would be the same.
Is a padded CTR supposed to make up for a 70% revenue cut?
Big-time unfortunately, though, that wonderful 60% boost in EPC I was earning is gone today. =( Back to the ol' normal...
