Major changes to AdSense

Unless adsense is sending out a april fools joke, what do people think of the changes? Every site has a unique pricing model?

For example, a click on an ad for digital cameras on a web page about photography tips may be worth less than a click on the same ad appearing next to a review of digital cameras.

Yesterday's take was double normal with the same impressions. Today's is not quite double, but still substantially higher...

CTR's are around the same as ever.. thats kind of odd. This does happen from time to time when an advertiser puts in crazy high bids for certain keywords, so my recent data may be an anomaly un-related to the adsense changes.

I could have written this post, as my experience for the last two days is the same. For now, I'm smiling at the funeral. Will see if it lasts. Weekends are always terrible for me, so I'll wait to judge more stats till middle of next week.

I think one of the thing Google is hoping is that people who are seeing bad EPC do drop out of the AdSense program.

For me it seems like the "improved targeting" has missed the mark badly on critical pages. That's hurting a lot in the CTR.

But CPC seems to be holding up on the clicks I am getting.

dazzlindonna:please keep us updated - until yesterday night I thought I was one of the few lucky ones, too... now both accounts are down 80%. I don't see any new ads at all. I know that one of my sites converts far better than an other one, still they are down with the same %.

Maybe Google is'nt making any money ever since Yahoo is using their own search results. No traffic from Google equals no advertising dollars equals no money for Adsense.

From the Adsense email:

A few publishers will see a decline in revenues.

Went through all posts in this thread and it seems like there are only two publishers (jimh009 and dazzlindonna) that saw no difference or a slight increase.

The email should read:

A few publishers will see an increase in revenues.
