Unless adsense is sending out a april fools joke, what do people think of the changes? Every site has a unique pricing model?

For example, a click on an ad for digital cameras on a web page about photography tips may be worth less than a click on the same ad appearing next to a review of digital cameras.

Yidaki:

While not completely agreeing with your post, I will say:

If it walks like discounted pricing
If it sounds like discounted pricing
If it smells like discounted pricing

It is discounted pricing for contextual ads that are not in the SERPS.

My EPM has been going down hill without a break since the last December. There was no way for me to stop it although I have tried to make many changes such as adding more pages, revising the contents, changing the keywords, etc.

So I have wondered many times, the long term survival of the AdSense if nothing will be done soon. That is a reason why I welcome any change on the Googgle’s side.

It's the right time! I'm waiting for the result.

I'm not sure if i understand you right here. You mean discounted pricing for ads that are not displayed at the google serps (AdWords) or ads at pages that are not listed in the google serps (AdSense with bad/without rankings)?

The changes to adsense have decrease my revenue by over 1/2. I know its too early to tell for sure... but the fact that $ is down by 1/2 when impressions and click through rate remain steady is a pretty strong indicator of what the near future looks like. I think I need to check out the competition (to adsense) and vote with my shoes.

Hmm... I guess it's the right time for formidable competitors to win us over. My site revenue is down 37% at least...

Yea, it seems that it has effected our site too. Our average bid price in March has now been cut in half due to this "new" feature. Guess we will have to be looking for another service to offer in place of adsense.

If Google wanted to get rid of good sites fast, this is sure a good way to do it.

Sorry, again, i don't get it. This "new" feature is active since ... ~12-18 hours, right? And you draw conclusions based on your stats? You have enough days and data to compare and to see trends?

Just in case i didn't make it clear: my post above was NOT based on early stats. Just a closer look to what they claim to change and how this *might* affect our revenue.

Yes... I know we have not had much time to evaluate the full effects... but my site gets over 50,000 page views a day and like a say... when the $'s are down 50% and all other statistics remain the same...

Lets just say I think I know who will be funding the changes Google has made for publishers. Is anyone make more money?

The one nice thing about this is that I no longer fear upsetting google/losing adsense. If the current rate holds, I WILL be replacing adsense.

Agreed, so far (I believe) only one or two other people have posted to say they are seeing an increase in earnings. This is far outweighed by the number posting a decline in earnings.

Perhaps in a week we'll be able to see some better numbers, especially when the channel data comes out. But for now I'm not impressed. My CTR remains the same, EPC and revenue is down.
