April 2019 was a kick in the teeth for most /some of us.

Easter (Catholic and Orthodox) and very low payment made April a very bad surprise.

May is here and it's starting with a non-working day (1st of May - International Workers' Day) in many countries.

Hope the best, expect the worst...

A note on Twitter about a fix ETA or an update from the Adsense rep in here would be nice.

They are terrible at that, just useless. They almost never make any attempt to explain outages, delays or provide ETAs for correction. They're red hot on emailing about policy violations and the like but go quiet when there's a problem at their end. And they only use social media to spruik their products, never to communicate (though to be fair, most of these channels are awash with Indians and ESL speakers demanding their accounts be approved or reinstated).

It just makes a mockery of the alleged 'partnership' between G and its publishers.

Google Adsense rarely if ever communicates effectively about problems with ads. And to my knowledge, they never restore lost revenue that result from problems on their end. Adsense is a hobby option and not a business option imo.

What problems?
There are no problems!

In the meantime, the revenue is bad/low...

@nubchai

Google Adsense rarely if ever communicates effectively about problems

Well. In this fast paced computing world with AI in the fold, their communication would be limited. Not easy..

And to my knowledge, they never restore lost revenue that result from problems on their end

Their primary objective is to protect the Advertiser NOT the publisher (market driven)

Adsense is a hobby option and not a business option imo

Not really.. It depends.. It could be a business option (supplementary) and a hobby income (again supplementary) - But I know what you mean - it is not a real business proposition on its own (but it is for many - so again, it depends)

@nubchai
Adsense is a business option too. Large news sites are not running Adsense as a hobby. They are using it as business model There is "Adsense for business" as well.

By the way taking advantage of Auto Ads (in-Article Ads, Anchor Ads, Vignette Ads) my Adsense revenue has actually increased by 75%. Tried auto "Text & Display ads" option too but disabled that after few days since Ads started appearing at unwanted locations and accidental clicks increased due to which clawback increased.

Hi,

Just in case it can help, "in my case" what works great are Anchor ads "alone" (no other ad blocks on mobile devices). Also, I find it delivers a good user experience, with clean page, and limited number of ads.

Adsense as a bussiness... lol... seriously? Serious companies use Adx or Admanager competing with others networks and don't depend only on Adsense.

How is the Google buggy bug faring for you guys? Still no respite except occasional bursts. The dashboard still says it is work in progress (10 days and counting). This is no seasonal variation.

@EditorialGuy, how is Ezoic treating you in this silly season? Are they on track?

The dashboard is probably also wrong.
Since Monday RMP and CTR up
Best week since a while.

Again it all depends on the countries you are serving and the sector.
And as well the quality of information you provide with attracts ‚good‘ clickers

@Runfun Well... Google "Markus Frind AdSense cheque" and watch his cheque of CAD (Canadian Dollars) 900 000 from AdSense. He ended up selling his site for $575 million a few years later.

I have been using AdSense as my sole income for more than 10 years. A few of those years were fantastic. I had a dedicated AdSense Manager and at least monthly phone meetings with Google. And sometimes meetings in person at their office. And I have a few friends which were in the same situation. Now? Not so much. Me too I am struggling hard, and might have to close down business soon. Income decreasing dramatically, and I don't even know if I have an AdSense Manager anymore. Just gone.

I have had Adsense for 7 years and wasted most of that time by under monetising my site. I only had an ad at the top and in the side bar. Auto ads increased the income but it is decreasing on a month by month basis and it is so disheartening. I got accepted to Mediavine a year ago but had to defer for a year. I will finally be joining in a matter of weeks and have heard nothing but good things. Fingers crossed it works out.

The same perspective here, it's like the ship took to much water and the next step is to abandon it, but the water is freezing death.

@Stateofmind, the cheque of Markus Frind AdSense was in 2006. For Adsense that's ages away and now I can't find any big website with only Adsense. The smart publisher uses Adsense as fill up but not as main impressions. With the recent developments I see opportunities for other companies because a lot of publishers are willing to switch with these low earnings and bad user experience like rubbish ads, etc.

Earnings and RPM have recovered slightly the last 3 days, but still not on the same level as the first 4 months. Traffic is very stable still.

@Runfun I agree, it is almost impossible to run a business with only AdSense now. Problem is that Google bought almost all the competitors, now have almost monopoly, and destroyed the market along with imposing draconian policies on the publishers. This is a prime example of how one company got too much power without antitrust stepping in. Oh, well...

Service disruptions still going on: [ads.google.com...]

Last years my website was already getting less dependent of Adsense with using Admanager. Now I'm showing affiliate or direct ads first, followed by header bidding competing with Adsense. So it's becoming more and more a network to fill up for the crumbles.

There does seem to be some strange stuff going on. The ads appearing in my Ad-Review are for impressions (like 2 or 3 impressions) that occurred in early April, with 0 impressions since. Something is wrong.

I am also seeing really low earnings today, as described by others.

Adsense seems to have a huge problem.
I don t think it s the intention of Google to maintain this status quo.
Problably linked to the recent hack from chinese ads clicking app.
Hoppefully we have a solution soon.

My CPM is finally starting to recover. It was down almost 80% for about 10 days and just Thursday started to recover. Now it's only down about 10% from what I consider reasonable levels. Hopefully, everyone else having trouble has seen a recovery or will soon. It's issues like these and lower fill rate that have caused us to adopt header bidding to compete with AdSense via GAM.
