Just recently, and this is not a complaint, I have had a couple of replies to threads pulled as being off topic. I totally understand the reasoning behind this. However, a number of threads seem to get moved to other forums on WW. Speaking for myself, I only tend to visit two forums on WW, within these forums I feel I have got to know - and understand - a lot of how the regulars on these forums think, what makes them tick, what their general areas of expertise are etc. Although none of us have ever met, I often think of these people if not as friends, as working colleagues.

There are often times when I would like to post a question to get feedback from these people that I feel I have got to know and trust, but feel it is going to be off topic and either pulled or moved to another forum that I do not know or visit.

I have enjoyed the sometimes light relief banter that goes on here - and the sometimes flippant comments that get thrown around - re fridges, and mouse tracking etc. Is there any way that WW could almost put a subforum within a forum? ie "adsense off topic forum" or some such thing? Just a thought.:)

An air craft is a about to crash. On the aircraft is the Pope, a school girl, Richard Branson and a Webmaster World Moderator.

There are only three parachutes.

Richard Branson picks up a parachute and says " I really think I need a parachute - there is a lot of good that I can do in the World". The other three agree. He straps on the chute and jumps out the plane. Leaving the Pope, the Schoolgirl and the Webmaster World Moderator.

The Webmaster World Moderator picks up a chute and says: "Well I am taking this chute, because everyone thinks we are stupid - but we are not". He takes the chute, straps it on and leaves the aircraft.

This leaves the Pope and the scholgirl.

The Pope looks at the schoolgirl and says "My child, you take the last chute, I have made my peace with God and am ready to meet my maker. You have your whole life ahead of you".

The schoolgirl looks at the Pope and says:" Its OK, there are still two parachutes left, the Webmaster World Moderator took my school satchel"!

No offence moderators!

Oh yeah?

Well, why do Adsensers obsess about using only retractable pens?

Because it improves their click through rate.

How many webmasters does it take to launch a trillion new websites?

One. And 9,999,999,999,999 Adsensers. ;-P

Why can't blonde Adsensers play golf?

'cause they can't figure out how to click on the links.

Who would have guessed that the apparently approved way to build a sense of community at WW was to hang out in Foo and insult each other.

Oh wait, it's "humour"! Yeah, sure.

The AdSense forum is a good place to discuss AdSense, but not really a great place to be discussing vacuum cleaners, fridges, search engine strategies, trips to the pub, YPN, domain names, etc., but day after day that kind of dross ends up being dumped on the AdSense forum regardless. It's irritating.

There was always humour in the AdSense forum.

Every newbie that showed up after getting kicked out that "hadn't done a thing wrong" and then left clues to their sites or in their other posts. Always loved those :-)

Updation delays. Created in the AdSense forum by India's No. 1.
We had a lot of fun with that.

There must be others...

Q: Why did the domainer cross the road?
A: He didn't. There was no money in it.

Imagine if domainers were the ones who assigned the street names in cities. We'd have Main Street, eMain Street, MyMain Street, Main-Main Street, and over on the bad side of town, AllTheBestMain Streets.

Etonian - this is exactly my point. We need a separate area for this OT threads - this would mean that it was selective viewing - therefore causing you no offence.

A percentage of users appreciate the asides, obviously others don't - you being one of them. Thats fine, therefore perhaps a Google orientated foo section would be a good idea. It would then keep the forums on topic, but give the guys a bit of a "playground" for the "office humour".

Regarding several comments regarding the other subject areas on the forums, and the mere fact that by having either adwords or adsense on ones site intrinsically means we have a) an interest in these other area, and b) any good input to share.

I am perfectly well aware of the other subject matters on the forum, and have the greatest of respect for people within these separate subject areas. However, 99% of my time is spent with Adwords and Adsense. My sites have regular new and additional content, and minor htp tweaks. However, I earn my living from either looking after others adwords stuff, or looking after my own, in conjuction with adsense.

I already spend way too much time on this forum - I find it interesting, informative and sometimes humourous. I would be interested to know just how many people out there feel the same. Would you like to see a Google Foo? Or do you think there is way too much OT threads, and all asides should go to the Foo section.

I really didn't mean to cause any offense to anyone, and trust that my comments have been taken in the way in which they were intended.

For someone that finds humour so "irritating" you seem to post a reasonable amount of replies in the Foo section. Curious as to why you would be so opposed to a separate Google Foo.

And to be honest, a lot of people can't understand why you (lot) are so opposed to using the current Foo forum. But if it gets your "humourous asides" out of the Adsense forum, then all well and good.

Nobody is really for or against you, it appears to be a certain section of the frequent Adsense forum posters who want this kind of segregation. And please don't take this as a personal affront, the comment would be the same if it was about the Apache forum and a different form of "humour".

(Personally speaking, I find "humour" is all too often used as a clubby exclusionary tactic on forums.)

Stever - thanks for your honest input. Totally accept your point of view - which is why the post is here. My reasoning behind the separate foo, is not as an "clubby exclusionary tactic" , quite the opposite. I feel that a lot of the aside comments are so specific to Google, or adsense or adwords that it would probably bore the pants off of people who really wouldn't have a clue what we were rambling about. I think by placing our "clubby exclusionary" comments (which I really don't think is true) on the general foo, I think it would result in exactly what you mention - which is what I was trying to avoid.

As adsense, in particular, is the biggest forum, I think that it could result in the foo being over-run by adsensers - which is not what the foo is about.

So with your points in mind, I think this gives even more credence to the argument for a separate foo.

Please keep the feedback coming. I don't wear blinkers and am very open to others opinions, and am quite capable of eating humble pie if need be!

Without overlabouring the point, I just wanted to comment on this:

I hadn't meant that this was the case in the Adsense forum, or, if people felt it was, that you were doing it deliberately. My point was meant to be almost exactly what was stated in the highlighted section above...

After posting in the OT AdSense thread... my eCPM went down by 50%!
I just knew trannack was going to get me in trouble!

I think the moderators tipped Google off that I was search and replacing my colors, instead of pasting all new code, and they turned the screws on my eCPM!

I'm also experiencing some sudden scalp itching, I can't log into my Victoria's Secret account and my dog is limping! None of this ever happened before the OT thread (gotta be the lawyer thing!)!

Anybody have any suggestions? I promise I won't ever do it again!

Such an area already exists - it's called the Foo sub-forum.

Right, let me go and look at what I've posted in the Foo sub-forum. Okay, I've posted about proxy servers, charitable donations, spelling and grammar, and migraines. Well gosh, where else should I have posted about those if not in Foo? That's what it's there for! Cor blimey, I honestly don't see what the problem is here.

Mingle with others on these forums?

I checked with my google search probation officer and he says I can't mingle with any SEO types.

Sorry, i don't want to be in G search jail again.

OK

Saturday afternoon word game.

Same rules as the Friday Night Foo Game except:

You are charged with adding "two words"

Mods and Admins are encouraged to play, they have a special twist. They can delete the last word and in the course, change the path of the progression. (a privilige that they are acostomed to handeling)

Since we only have one thread at the moment the game can hop normal ASFoo comments but must remain in sequence so copy and paste the collection of sentences.

I'll start.
