Is the team at Google on Holiday until the New Year? Still waiting for the dance.

After a couple of days with no Google bots on any of my sites, they are back. I'm once again seeing some changes in SERPs from www to www2 and www3. Anytime now, I think.

Is it link:yahoo.com or is it links:yahoo.com?

Google toolbar lists it as links:yahoo.com?

If it is links then the links showing are way far down at 4640!

Actually last week, I saw a new site that doesn't have a page rank assigned (grey bar) suddenly is assigned page rank (white bar). Although it has PR0, but it is acceptable as it is a new site. I am no experience on this but could it be google has already 'dance'? But this time, they have skipped updating yahoo.com, the one that people use to determine if google has danced

No there wasn't a dance. you can search for any backlinks of any sites and you wont get different results on www, www2 and www3.

Fellas,
The last dance started was it the day before Thanksgiving, the other was on Halloween (ok granted Halloween is not a day off work unless you have little kiddies) But Thanksgiving is... New Years is POSSIBLE. I will not sit and wait for this dance, I will check in from time to time though. Enjoy the New Years!

Just did a check of all 7 datacenters for key words specific to my site. The number of results where all different. Any significance to this?

Thanks.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Bio4ce. You're seeing the results of the Everflux [webmasterworld.com].

When a link search such as link:www.yahoo.com gives different results, it's probably the update.

Happy New Year's helpmebe1 and everyone!
I like the image of a progressively more inebriated helpmebe1 stumbling to a begged or borrowed pc every hour tonight to check the yahoo links count.
Me, I'm taking my best girl Googlebot out for a midnight champagne supper.
Ta ta...

I'm almost sure it will start in exactly 9 hours. 4:45 German time. I guess it is 22:45 in NYC.

So the answer is yes and no, depending on the time zone you live in.

Ten signs I am obsessive compulsive about Googlebot:

10. I crawl out of bed in the middle of the night to check postings of webmasterworld.
9. My girlfriend says she loves me. And I say, I love you too googlebot.
8. During my thinking processes, I try to index, update, and dance my thoughts in my head. Most of the time they are indexed wrong. Causing me to remember the dumbest things while forgeting the most important things.
7. When I go out to eat, I look for Googlebot on the menu.
6. In every conversation I have, I find myself talking about googlebot. Resulting in loss of friends and family.
5. When I have mashed potatos on my plate during dinner, I sculp them into Googlebot.
4. When I go out at night I wear my Google hat and find myself alone on the dance floor doing the robot dance. Why doesn't anyone like it but me? MMM! Is it because that's all I'm wearing?
3. I've spent over an hour of my life thinking of the number 3 reason why I obsess over googlebot.
2. I recently had an inkbot test. Oh god sorry, Inkblot! And all I saw was Googlebot.

and the number one reason I am obsessive compulsive for Googlebot.

1. Cause Dammit, I'll be here in this room until the next update. Uggg!

Hey Beachboy,

I just saw my raw logs for the first time today. Googlebot scanned my site but I have a problem. Googlebot spent all night searching for images on the website that didn't exist. From the old website that is. Since googlebot wasn't lucky enough to find anything that actually exists on the server now, is this bad?

Will googlebot come back and scan the rest of my site or is there some tweeking I need to do. I also saw something disturbing. Look at below.

64.68.84.150 - - [30/Dec/2002:11:55:33 -0800] "GET /robots.txt HTTP/1.0" 404 318 "-" "Googlebot-Image/1.0 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)".

Is this bad?

My bet is for midnight GMT. That would be 4:00 pm CA time. So maybe it could be more like 5:00 CA time when all the googlets go home to celebrate the new year. Last googlet out the door hit the big red button before you shut out the lights. But what if the last googlet forgets to hit the button?

Yes it's 2003 here. The lights and noises are slowly diminishing. In some few minutes they will culminate in UK and Eire, and then midnight will move on over the Atlantic. Wouldn't it be rather Googlish to start the dance when it is New Year in Thule?

Happy New Year everybody.

Looks like NO December update this year. :( It's now past 0000 UTC 1 January 2003, and UTC would be the logical standard to use on an international medium like the Internet.
