I'm kinda surprised at this thead.

It raised my eyebrows. "Word on the street" ...hmmm

Wired Suzanne:
You're seeing an increase in your backlinks on www2-3? I'm seeing nothing here.

I've gained 5-6 positions on nearly every term i can think of on www2 and www3. But that could just be freshbot.

Yesterday i saw one of my sites (PR5) without calculated page rank (grey bar). This never happened for weeks.

I think the PR will be in update at the moment.

Brett, please post in terms of ex,sj,va,dc,ab,in,cw,fi instead of www,www2,www3. Going by datacenters gives more comprehensive, and more importantly (for an large forum like this), more reproducible results. If you can't fit 8 frames into one screen with a framing dance tool, use the datacenter bookmarklets instead.

Just noticed something strange. For the search term faux finish I have #7 & #8 on all 9 data centers. But on google.com just #7. Is there now a new data center. I tried to refresh but still the same

My bet is there was a reason for this post and no one "got it" yet.

I had an update of two of my sites a couple of days ago, there seemed to be some reranking going on too, since then -cw seems to have a different algorithm - all the other datacenters show index page and contact page next to each other, -cw shows index page and the contact page much further down on the next page.

I have a site that is quite new (7 weeks) been doing well and now its doing well in datacentre 6 and terribly in the others, my rankings are leaping all over the place from day to day.

None of my backlinks showing on google still though google is listing me, while other search engines listing my backlinks but not listing me.

Google is like a flirtatious women, you think she likes you and every now again she show thats she does, but then the next day she ignores you and you're just not sure!

For the last two or three weeks I've been ranking better on on -cw than the other data centers. -fi is now showing the better (for me) results. All others show no change.

... can't see any changes in backlinks for my sites on any of the dc's, although main site now showing a Google cache thats over 3 months old. It updated the cache about 1 week ago and then reverted back to the old one - haven't had any fresh tags for over a week.

-zu en -sj have been out of line for a couple of days. They report 20/30-fold the normal number of results but only for specific searches (finacial area). Not just the normal flux that shows on different dc's.

Hey BT, do you miss the update-threads that you start yourself? ;)

Clever,

Some dc's don't show PR at the moment, I think -zu is one of them.

I think something might be up.

Had a deep fresh crawl on 22nd that never made it into the Serps - no fresh crawl on 23rd for me and none since.

Am seeing 23rd fresh dates mixed with 22nd in Serps - but cache from my site looks to be very old.

Backlinks the same accross all DC.

Anyone else noticing lack of fresh bot? used to be a sign of an imminent update.

>miss the update threads

Well, we'd had 5 threads started yesterday about this subject that we didn't approve. I thought we best check out the landscape and report back to the mothership before any more reports came in.

Am seeing very stable SERPs across all DCs (with no change on backlinks)

With reference to my Old Cache statement above.

This could well be the reason for all this movement.

Google seems to index pages and re-index changes to pages that occur - these pages seem to stay in the index but there is always an older cache version of the page somewhere (for re-indexed pages) that the index sometimes reverts too - I would suggest that an update (in whatever manner it takes) will finally happen when the older cache that sometimes the index reverts back to becomes more upto date.

For new pages there is no older cache and these pages can therefore disappear.

And perhaps the Google link: search refers to the link count in the older cache version of the index.

Anyway - at this stage I cant see an update :(

Methinks one of the usual "month or so after the last one" false alarms....

hm,my site disaperared again back to #73, it was number 8 or so i think before..this is site is dmoz so maybe dmoz boost is still being calcualted ...other site that is not in dmoz stayed on positions...

however many sites that were new in ww2 and ww3 are still here...
