I just checked all 9 datacenters. Only -sj and -fi have the new index.
Every time you pick up the deck of cards, i.e., do a search, google shuffles the magical deck.
I think you just described the "new technology". This is exciting. :)
but when will the links and PR be factored in hours, days, weeks
that is when the results will be "real" right?
If you're answering a call from a client, 'real' might mean when the shuffle settles down a bit.
If you're Sam Surfer hunting for a red widget, the results are most probably considered real as soon as Sam begins reading page 1 of the serps returned for his search on the phrase 'red widget'
shuffling decks on search visitors does not seem like it would be something desirable. i routinely will do multiple checks on the same keyphrases, wanting the results i did before to come up again.
and if it were true, imagine the fun optomizing for for 8 to 10 diffent google indices, not just one.
google is still playing games. haven't dealt the real deck yet. that's where our money lies still.
the more visitors google has, the more we have. so more power to you google. the super engine of search.....
www-cw.google.com is now also displaying the new info.

Sorry to remind you, but the round-robin feature has already been explained a few dozens times in these threads.
As a few datacenters have now the +/- 2 months old index, backlinks and pagerank, it is normal that every now and then, your pagerank changes to the one your page was having 2 months ago. This happens every time the toolbar query resolves to one of these datacenters (sj, fi, cw...)because of the DNS round-robin algorithm.
PR change is nothing to worry about for now!

Thing is when we start seeing fi regularly on www (probably this weekend), it could be weeks until current crawl data is factored in. Looks like at best, we will be stuck with the funky si index for a couple of weeks.
It's pretty starnge that they are scoring sites based on links from the January crawl/Feb index. Wonder why they couldn't at least have used the March index?
GoogleGuy is using the words "gradual" and "over time" a little too much from my liking. :(
In the UK, I see 617k -617k -617k - 661k for yahoo backlink is that settled then?
And will the deepcrawl be starting soon then?

You'll need to see all 9 of the datacenters side by side to see anything happening here at all.
My money is on a -cw that morphs over time.
Googleguy said that sj and fi were 'related' but not identical.
Could it be that Google has decided to use multiple 'related' algorithms across different datacenters that will give the same family of results, but not the same results.
If I wanted to make it more difficult for people to reverse engineer my algorithm, then that is what I would do. Just as fast as someone posted some 'clue' to the new algorithm, someone else would see some variation on a diff. datacenter that would call into question the first 'clue'.

I'm watching two SERP's very closely right now.
For the more important phrase which was #32-#34 past few months until I did the redesign and link campaign:
#13 on SJ (13 backlinks listed in Google)
#11 on FI (13 backlinks listed in Google)
Would be nice to see how many sub PR3's were picked up. Must be a good number as none of the new PR4's are showing up yet. :)
Depending on what server I hit on Y! the rank is #17 or it doesn't exist (I only checked to #200).
AOL's Search: #11 Sometimes there- sometimes not at all.
The other phrase that has been ranking at #3 the past month:
Now...
#10 on FI (using sitemap instead of index page)
#3 & #4 on SJ (Index page then site map page)
Y! #3 just as last month and seems steady after many refreshes.
AOL Search: #10 using Site map instead of index page & #16 using a different page.
The AOL Search for Phrase two reminds me of results that were on SJ _way_ back when the news broke here. Only then it was 11&12 using the same pages.
Wonder how long things need to 'cook' before it's done...
Maybe GoogleGuy doesn't even know.
No observations since it's not done yet. Would be nice if a link or two more were picked up from that #11 and #13 spot for most important phrase.
If not- there's always next month....if the update settles by then. ;)
Just an observational post...but this update is good for my purposes so far.

Yep, lots of fresh tags on -cw as of mid-afternoon onwards, and this datacentre's results seem to be more related to -sj/-fi than to the others (they seem to be like -sj/-fi with lots of fresh data on top). Google are testing something, and after 3000 posts in this 9-part thread, I don't think anyone here (except maybe GoogleGuy) has much of a clue as what is going on.
This is cool, at least there's SOMETHING going on. :)
just to add to the frustration I had a glimpse of something on aol just now which was different of anything I have seen in the nine known datacenters..
Yahoo and Google don't show straight up Google results. They have their own criteria as to how they rank results. For most stuff that I have seen Google and Yahoo are usually pretty close.
AOL's search can be totally odd compared to Yahoo and Google.

Speaking of repeating yourself... when do you think we can see some kind of significant change in either backlinks or april's deepbot data? How is this going to affect next month's update? Are you going to gradually bring everything back in and then keep updating continuously from that point on?
Can you repeat that GG, I didn't get it the first 500 times you said it :)
Have you tried turning all your cookies off and repeating your search tests. Perhaps Google are trying to adapt their searches to individual users and this is the start.
For me this looks exactly like it always does when the update begins to start...
