The EU’s new AI transparency rules under the AI Act are now taking effect, requiring organisations to clearly disclose when customers are interacting with AI, when realistic AI-generated media is used, and when AI performs certain biometric or emotion analysis.

For most businesses, compliance is relatively straightforward and centres on transparency rather than restricting AI use. The rules are expected to influence organisations across a wide range of industries serving EU customers or operating within the EU.

That’s great, but it won’t stop fake rubbish. The problem is that the law misses the real issue.
