....Continued from here [webmasterworld.com]
--------------------------------------------------------

I just checked all 9 datacenters. Only -sj and -fi have the new index.

Wow, are we up to 3000 posts on this topic? Ah, how fondly I recall those first 1000 posts or so. No wonder I feel like I keep repeating myself--I think I am. :)

Googleguy, I couldn't agree more. =]

This is starting to get exciting everytime I search on www.google.com, I am seeing changes and my sites moving up and others moving down.www. is not = to -sj, -fi, or -cw it looks like a fluid combination of all three. I also see my new sites from the April crawl in www. if I search for www.mydomain.com.

Good grief. This botched Google index from hell just gets worse as time goes on. :( Now #16 in -cw, down from #13 on -sj and #14 on -fi. From #4 on the old index. Hmm...a lame UltimateSearch-clone type spam page just moved ahead of me on -cw. Why does this not surprise me? Well, it still isn't over yet. However, I've pretty much lost hope Google will bring in the missing inbound anchor text that has caused my site to plummet to obscurity.

rfgdxm1,

Why do you feel that Google is not going to add in the inbound anchor text? I thought GG told us this was going to happen over time... Unless I have missed something? I have pulled myself away from this forum so I can keep my sanity.

3,000 posts?

That's nothin! Maybe you folks don't remember, but I do!

Quite well do I remember the Google post madness of '71...over 21,000 posts...there was pandemonium in the streets! It was a harrowing time: webmasters thought they'd go out of their minds with anxiety and anticipation.

Not much excuse for Google that update either considering the entire index consisted of 350 web pages, most of which were government pages--Yahoo only had, umm, if I recall correctly, around 16 pages.

Google's come a long way, we should be THANKFUL we're only up to 3,000 posts.

Young'uns...

So tempting, roscoepico.

Here's a challenge: Before posting to this thread, check through the previous posts to make sure that the point hasn't been made, or the question asked, already.

Good one Critter - I actually laughed for the first time today.

Gotta turn off the damn Smiths and go outside before I jump out the window.

Happy Google Insanity Week >:^(-~

Well, FI and SJ are fine for me now... but CW is totally horrendous. For one specific two-set keyword my site has gone totally and in it's place there are 3 mirror listings for a competitors site. Another site has just *gone* - Yes, it might have Fresh! listings on CW, but it smells awfully! ;)

finally, we see -fi resembling a contemporary index. our backlinks are in from www, and the index shows freshness in SERP. things are coming along. however, -fi certainly isn't helping us any, might be hurting a bit even. but oh well.

-sj is a laggard...
GG WAS covering his bets the other day. ha

I don't believe that this will happen. The dance isn't over, so it is possible. However, my guess is that Google is broken. We shall see.

Just as we have names for updates, I suggest, that as we are about to move over to Update Dominic 10, that we should start giving the threads a name also, just to add a little more confusion.

I suggest Dominic Dejavu... because everytime i read new post, I cant help thinking that i have read it somewhere else previously. :)

yes. go san antonio. i am really so sick of the lakers winning year after year.

however you can't knock the lakers. they have shown over and over again why they have been the champs. but all dynasties must fall soone or later (google, be wary. haha)

I see the "reinsert 404 domains" filter has been added to the "guestbooks are great" and "free for all link exchanges are the backbone of the web" filters... :)

New Coke, the Edsel and -sj, the Larry, Moe and Curly Joe of corporate innovation.

My home page has been missing on -sj since -sj changed, although secondary pages were still visible.

The home page just showed up again, and has moved up slightly in the SERPS.

It's still missing from -fi.

Perhaps Google will fix the deficiencies in -sj sooner rather than later.

Such madness...

I left this update dog's breakfast thread over a week ago to get out in the field, I get back expecting the new index to be at last resolved and still it goes on.

It's a hell of a strange way to run a search engine, Google.

Now that's Google News if I ever heard any!

I suggest everyone go back to their normal lives and let the cards fall where they will. This thread is out of control, judging by the post above. Not an attact on the poster, but a plea to stop slamming WW's servers with all this stuff about -sj and -fi.

sj was on www at about 5-7 pm pst

sj is now not on www

Does this update have anything to do with the lunar eclipse going on now... as we speak, boy you folks need to get out, I did not see one mention of this. I just watched the entire first 1/2 of the full eclipse, the emergence of the moon starts in 25 minutes.

Go drink a beer watching the emergence of the moon like I did and support your local brewery come back and I am sure once the lunar is over we will have the sj back on the www and I am most sure the fi will be the same as the sj with the 2 and the 3 www's

I just had a "Good morning Vietnam" flashback

I am in LA but the Lakers suck! Go Red Sox!

when on www.google.com I had the sj data results, not sure what color glasses are over your region but over here in So Cal we have the blu blockers and I am sure we had the sj on the www; no doubt about it.

SJ was on www about 20 minutes ago now it is not... again...
