Let's recap:
Normal dance:
Five days into it and it is almost over with index moving across the other 7 main data centers.
So far, 7 days into this PRE-DANCE:
The SJ data has not started to migrate to the other 7 main data centers. FI not included.
I have not seen sj results show up on www in over 3 days now.
www2 and www3 all are pointed to the IP of sj.
I've seen it mentioned that we have been privy to a part of the dance we normally don't see and I would be inclined to agree with that.
I don't think we will see the real dance start for a couple days at least. It's not a real dance anyway until all the data is applied, so I think we are all going to see a big shift from what the SJ server is showing and what will actually be in the index.
I find it funny that GoogleGuy has disappeared. I think they rolled out the new algo to get our opinions. Most searchers don't bother to fill out a satisfaction report. They just go somewhere else. In that respect, Google has a great asset in this community because they sure got a lot of feedback about what was on the SJ server. I think when the dance really starts in earnest, we'll see GoogleGuy show up again.
Anyway, back to work adding content for the next deep crawl

Oddly enough though my rankings have gone up...!
For example, when I type in "blue widgets," my homepage comes up with May 9th and ranks higher.
When I type in "green widgets," my homepage comes up with May 8 and ranks lower than those with May 9 fresh tags.
Also for another kw phrase, my homepage comes up but with no fresh date.
The answer to your question is the same as that for the question that is puzzling deanril.
Google has thousands of servers, and unless you take steps to assure it, you can never be sure of connecting to the same server on subsequent requests.
Therefore, if the latest results from freshbot are being distributed to all of these servers in a staggered fashion, as they will be over a distributed network like the internet, they will not appear on all of the servers simultaneously.
So we see sites that appear to bounce in and out over very short time periods, and inconsistencies in fresh tags, etc.
If you want to see "fixed results," pick any Google server by IP address, and always connect to "that one" (define the domain-to-IP mapping it in your "hosts" file). However, I put the phrases "fixed results" and "that one" in quotes above because, even having defined the machine, you can't really be sure that it doesn't have any load-sharing or internal switchover mechanisms in place that might still cause visible fluctuations... And, of course, you'll have to be content looking at only the results from that one server, and knowing that the other 9,999+ servers may be different.
A lot of the weirdness we see from Google is just a side effect of the fact that it is not one database on one machine, it is thousands of databases - in varying states of synchronization - on thousands of machines.

I'm with you; just don't see any meaningful changes on www; only on -sj, -fi. But clearly some other people are seeing significant differences.
We don't see any change in traffic either. Wondering if we're just one of the "lucky" ones, since things were/'are OK in www for us...?
And also, still find it hard to worry about -sj or -fi until I see new index in there. Our sites still showing older data in -sj and -fi.
Very confusing.
So as soon as I find 1 of my freshly deep boted pages on www, I (with my limited knowledge) would have to say its on!
My site has been back up for hours now with my fresh may 9th tag... few.... makes a guy nervous :)
Not in my main set of SERPS. I changed a title with the knowledge that it would reduce my rank on one term, but the hope that it would increase on another. -sj, -fi and www2 shows the expected result. www and -ex still show the old description and rankings.
Until I see this change on www and -ex I don't think that this yet an update.

Why have so many home pages dissapeared from the serps in sj and fi for certain searches?
Is not as if we are worried the site has received a ban cause internal pages are showing up (way down in the rankings)
If this question can be answered a lot of people will be very relieved....even if its bad news.....not knowing is what is causing all the heartache.
Are you sure your home page is gone, and not just buried down the SERPs? Looks like the home page of my site didn't get credited with inbound link anchor text, and it has fallen down in the SERPs. However, it is in the index. All the other pages seem normal. Try searching for some unique phrase that only appears on your home page and see if you can find it in -sj that way.
I have a non-english page, language1.html, that has been #2 or #3 (with the other #2 a doorway to #1) for its search term in that language since it went online in January. The page has about 60 links from my site, plus two high quality off-site ones.
Now on -sj I've gone from second to about 55th -- but it's not language1.html that is listed, but language2.html, and then an indented result for language3.html, and then a "more results" link which if you click that NOW language1.html shows up. language2.html has three links to it, one from language3, one from language1 and one from my site map. It's the second part of a three part article, and it's freaking insane that it would somehow rank higher than language1.html for this one word keyword that appears on both pages in about the same frequency.
-sj is a mess.
I am pretty sure that -sj can't be the index that we will see on www.
For all my keywords and major keywords the number of results Google finds has gone down by 70%.
For example for "widget" Google finds 3,350,000 results on www and only 1,370,000 results on -sj. They would have thrown out 70% of the websites in the database for that keyword. This can't be true!

you say you lost many links or Google does not find your anchor text. What happens when you search link: www.yoursite.com in sj? Do the links show up or don't they and you just gather that your links are not counted from your rankings?
The only basis I have for believing them to be -fi, is that for a certain keyword, -fi and www showed the same number of results (higher number of results, incidentally, than on other servers).
The results of sj MUST have shown up on www yet. I've got a live referal analysis on my server, and some results can't be from the old SERPs.
