Let's recap:
Normal dance:
Five days into it and it is almost over with index moving across the other 7 main data centers.
So far, 7 days into this PRE-DANCE:
The SJ data has not started to migrate to the other 7 main data centers. FI not included.
I have not seen sj results show up on www in over 3 days now.
www2 and www3 all are pointed to the IP of sj.
I've seen it mentioned that we have been privy to a part of the dance we normally don't see and I would be inclined to agree with that.
I don't think we will see the real dance start for a couple days at least. It's not a real dance anyway until all the data is applied, so I think we are all going to see a big shift from what the SJ server is showing and what will actually be in the index.
I find it funny that GoogleGuy has disappeared. I think they rolled out the new algo to get our opinions. Most searchers don't bother to fill out a satisfaction report. They just go somewhere else. In that respect, Google has a great asset in this community because they sure got a lot of feedback about what was on the SJ server. I think when the dance really starts in earnest, we'll see GoogleGuy show up again.
Anyway, back to work adding content for the next deep crawl
:)

I am REALLY ready to dance!
For about a week now, every night I put on my white polyester suit. With bell-bottom pants and no shirt.
I have a white belt and white shoes.
I look like a fat John Travolta, with a little Pat Boone…
I crank up the 8 – track tape with the Bee Gee’s.
Then I "do the Hustle!", alone.
Then I do a few other really cool moves, and then I recheck my Google Dance tool…, and then I "do the Hustle!" again… alone.

Update! fi is now showing new site as #3... Other keywords #2.

Is the food at the Googleplex really as good as good as is rumored?
I ate down at the new cafeteria at Intel's Jones Farm campus the other day and it's way better than when I used to work there, and I would love to know how it compares?
What does this have to do with the update? A description of some good food might get some of these people away from their screens long enough to slow down the never ending dominic threads. And I would really like to know;)
I havne't followed fi info really.
But it is an old index. INURL shows pages that have not existed since February 13th.
For KW #1 that is currently #3 on www and SJ, the site is ranking #165 on the fi server.
For KW #2 the site is ranking numbers 11 & 12 on FI. On SJ it was 11, and as links are added slipping a bit...now at #14.
On the SERP's on FI, the pages that come up are totally different from the pages that come up on the SJ server as well.
Since FI is showing pages I deleted around February 12th or so- it's not a new index.
SJ shows all the proper pages indexed.
Unlike others I do hope JS becomes the new index.
From my view the FI index is odd. It's showing pages I deleted from the old website and new ones from the site a redesigned.
BTW, when I clicked the cahced version for the page I deleted, I get an error...'cos page ain't been there to index in 2+ months.
Don't get it. What is the FI datacenter for..I mean what is being tested on that one?
Regards,
AW
It looks like [www-fi.google.com...] is adding MORE deepcrawled pages! I'm seeing more of my files in that database.
Any of those old pages that are indexed?
AW
Yes, I can confirm the movement on -sj. One of my sites which has been a rock solid #2 on www for highly competitive keywords has remained #18 on -sj until a few minutes ago when it moved up to #4.
And yet for me it's opposite. On a site I worked on it was solid for a day (maybe 2?) at #11 on one phrase and #11 & 12 for another.
Those phrases are #3 and #34 on www now.
Then for a full day or so on SJ the site ranked again at #3 for one phrase then #11 using a different page...then changed to #14 last couple hours.
Now, one phrase is staying at #3 on FI, but the other phrase that was #11 on SJ- now #14, is at # 165 again using a different page.
Don't understand FI at all. SJ I understand as links filter in they will filter in for oall the other sites too.
Odd.

This is the second month I have been indexed on google, and now on the sj server and the www2 and www3 server I have a serp of #1, but the results under my website are different for www-sj and the 2 data centers www2 and www3.
On the other 7 data centers I am not in the first 10 pages although the order of the results on those 7 datacenters differ slightly. Searching for the exact url shows that the 7 datacenters have the old cache of my url and www2, www3 and www-sj has the new one.
I dont think I deserve a number #1 serp even though I have changed the title and keywords. So I dont think www2, www3 and www-sj represent anything final. But im sure this was already established.
regards.
Mark.
As Google does not penalize new sites for being new -- I suspect the high ranking is short-lived unless you do lots of developing in the next few weeks/months.
Ensure to list with dmoz.org and check their direct category for other directories to freely list with.
Try and get some reciprocal links, and if possibly a paid-for few (like Yahoo) and industry specific ones, local area directories etc.
If not - you will probably see that rank decline over the next few updates.
Links are votes and votes matter... if on topic.
1. Is the Google update not over?
In fact the update really hasn't started yet - this has been more like the preparation to the update > that we never get to see. It is believed that the update will occur on Mothers Day > as Google likes to associate the update with "special days".
2. What is this site www-fi.google.com. What is the origin of the data/search results at this site?
fi is one of Google's 8 data centers. Each data center contains a complete archive of Google's index with probably different or varying algorithms associated with the center.
In fact the update really hasn't started yet
fathom, I think it has started for some of the serps have changed for me and I'm fairly sure that's been done by a new indexed inbound link that has been deepcrawled in April for the first time.
Query: link:page.html doesn't show up that particular link but I'm quite sure.
I think the update is smoothly going on but a lot of information is not showed to us (inbound links e.g.) while it is influincing the serps on -sj and -fi.
Just my 2 guilders...
As far as the dance, we still use the link below for confirmation...when all 4 listings are constant (backlinks), you can be reasonably confident that the dance has begun...
Good luck everybody!
P.S. My money is down for a Monday 5/12 dance date. Cha cha cha.
My new pages have been listed since the dance started Monday. I'm not sure which files wern't intexed until yesterday on that server. Way to many files to look at.
:::when is mothers day in the US? - i.e. when do you predict the dance to start for REAL
In two days on Sunday. Any one who thinks the dance hasn't started yet got's half there brain lost some where. Wait what brain? Even GoogleGuy himself has said it's started, that gradully the anti-spam stuff would be put in place, more data added (happening now), and the back-links/PR numbers would be updated.
