Bad day yesterday. Blocking all networks and reverting to text-only adverts to see if it makes a difference.

What on earth did they screw-up on Thursday?

My lowest-ever CTR day with completely normal page views, in the second 12 hours of the day when I usually get the majority of my impressions, that means more than 50%, I ended up with less than 20% which is also my third-lowest ever, on a day when my total click volume was also 70% of my weekly average and 50% of my weekday average.

Nah, nothing much wrong there!

Absolutely pathetic number of clicks, but super high EPC, so ultimately doing well.

Might as well turn off the server. These twiddlers have made a mess of Adsense!

Don't forget the ruddy olympics start today, as well as half-term for the kids (UK)

half-term
?

Our lot have been on summer holidays since last Thursday 19th July.

The Olympics are not reducing my visitor numbers, whoever they are they're simply not clicking...according to Google, yeah, I believe 'em, not.

It depends where you are. As a kid, I had relations in various parts of the UK. There were two weeks difference between us.

Even so, the kids are off atm, and therefore will make a difference to things.

Heading for new record lows across the board...this is removal level Google, pointless.

Here in the US, the kids have been off since June.

Yesterday was dire for me as well and today isn't looking good at all. I had 2 good days all month, and now back in the crapper.

I agree this is removal level Google. Vertical Search Works and Dynamic Oxygen are doing great for me!

I've never had a click volume day when both the US and UK clicks combined are 66% of India on its own...WTF!

And to put this into context the US/UK combined so far have not even reached 15% of their July's daily average...nothing wrong whatsoever.

Pretty bad for me too, and it's a reasonable traffic day. People just ain't clickin'. The ads look about normal.

Meh.

> People just ain't clickin'.

Either that, or AdSense ain't reporting. I'm all for believing in people changing their clicking habits, but it's tough to fathom them all doing it at the same time! Makes more sense to me that there's been a change in scoring the clicks that AdSense is now using. For all I know, there could be a mile long cue of clicks in my account waiting to be reviewed.

Could be. Yesterday this time I had four times the earnings and six times the clicks that I have now - on less traffic.

Can't complain though, I have had an unprecedented month.

for the first time ever I'm SERIOUSLY considering removing Adsense from my sites. For the past year it has been dropping in stages. My traffic is down about 10-15% but Adsense is down 80%

Today would have to get a lot better to even be considered pathetic.

Completely broken for me, I'm just managing 1 click an HOUR.

Repair it Google or you will be gone!

And that's exactly where Adsense can open up a little bit more - it would a big help to know if the Adsense system is lagging, being tweaked or whatever.

It's amazing how much leeway is given to Google when we're successful, yet when the tables turn, we demand answers.

Google is like the boyfriend who breaks up with you, dates another girl, but still wants to occasionally sleep together.

I think it's easy to figure out. The little guys can't compete with the very large paid advertisers who get preference in search results.

Yesterday earnings down again to below 30% of average.

HuskyPup

There are times in life when you know you're being screwed yet cannot do a damned thing about it, my UK CTR on Friday with absolutely normal page views was...14.6% of July's average.

People can write every excuse they like about holidays, Olympics, whatever, this is simply a fiasco, for me India out-earning the UK for the first time ever just says it all at $0.10 EPC.

What would have easily been my worst-ever day was salvaged by a few average EPC clicks from the USA. I'm totally fed-up of being gamed like this by Google...when, when, when is there going to be an investigation into this company's practices?

> I'm totally fed-up of being gamed like this by Google...

Frustrated as I am with the way things have gone down with AdSense, I don't think they're gaming me. Rather, I think whomever is running the show there is simply incompetent, and aside from netmeg, most of us here are seeing dramatic cuts in earnings because of that lack of leadership.

Something is seriously messed up at AdSense. Hope they fix it, but if not, eventually other players will enter the space and publishers will begin to leave, and quick. For starters, it'd be great if Marissa Mayer revived YPN as that was potentially the best competitor to AdSense that's come along. If Google really had competition to AdSense, I'm convinced things would be a lot different than they are now.

I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope for YPN, at least not right away. It was so poorly managed (poor quality and fraud) that the advertisers (including me) fled the display network like rats leaving a sinking ship. Plus they're still in the Bing agreement, and who even knows the future of that, since MS is doing some really goofy things on the advertising side (laying key people off, etc)

I just don't think it's as simple as pointing to Google and saying "you're doing it wrong." Maybe they are, but that's only one thing, and there's a TON of things to point to that swirl around and come together in different combinations at any given point. This is not your 2005 AdSense anymore, or even your 2010 AdSense.

And given the upcoming changes with browsers and Do Not Track and all, it could get even worse.

But one thing is clear, there's NO going backwards, no matter how much we might wish for it.

I would love nothing better than for Facebook to come up with a display network of sorts - they have all kinds of important targeting information that could be lucrative, if it weren't for all those pesky privacy concerns.

Suddenly 2 big paying clicks. Now if this triples, it'll make up for yesterday, but I won't hold my breath.
