I am seeing no backlinks for yahoo or dmoz on www2 or www3, also serps are changing. Is this it?

My new SERPS are now showing on google.com but haven't filtered onto google.co.uk yet. Anyone know how long thats likely to take?

I can see that I only have 124 backlinks now, when before update was 360 backlinks and I have made non changes in my links, so maybe Google dont like small pages with not so much text or the backlinks does only show links from PR5 sites.

agh, i guess i'll need another month to finish up fixing up my site. it indexed a few more thousand pages because i made the URLs search engine friendly, and i went up from page 4 on the main keyword to page 3. backlinks went from 26 to 38...

i have noticed that a few pages that link to me don't show up when i search for backlinks...? is it still doing stuff and final results aren't ready?

also titles/descriptions for a lot of the posts in my forum are not appearing...

Hey,

I just went from 175 indexed pages to 144. At one point earlier this month I was up to 195 including new additions spidered by Minty. Some pages that were included in the last update are missing now on ww2 and ww3.. this is too much to handle this early on a Sunday morning.. I did not see G bot at all this month, only Freshbot..

BTW: www, ww2 and ww3 are all showing 642K here in chilly Chicagoland

well, I guess I got excited too soon. My PR may have gone up but my keywords are horrible. KW's I was number 3 on last week, now I don't even show in the directory! :(

I was searching www3 until the wee hours of the morning.

I am popping up on some page 1 results my first try. OK- granted...not the most competitive phrases...but I'll take it.

I've learned _A LOT_ since I put my site up. Been working on clients site instead of mine though. So, won't be able to implement what I learned here until next month.

I was wondering appx how long it will take for www2 results to filter into the main DB?

Also, why is this called the January update? Is this not the start for the February update?

It is called the January Update because it reflects the structure of the Internet at the beginnig of January when the last deep crawl was.

Hi again... :)

Hmm...my new site first got indexed last month. Meaning if I searched "mydomain" in Google, I saw every page was indexed and cached by Google. (GOOD GoogleBot!)

But back then I could not enter any search phrases and find my site on Google. So, I know- have patience...and now I show up under a bunch of phrases! :)

But in www2 and www3 and main Google- it does not find any links to my site using "link:www.mydomain.com"

I know for fact I have at least 3 links to my site with PR4 and above. Why is Google not counting my links?

The links to my site have been in place since before last update.

I saw people are getting strange results for backlinks in www2 and www3, but I get none.

Any suggestions as to why my links don't show?

So, the deep crawling from first couple weeks of Februrary will be finalized end of Februrary.

Absolutely correct!
Sometimes during the Update backlinks do not show, sometimes it takes Google longer to find backlinks
I don't know why it sometimes lasts longer to find a link but finally Google finds them all!;)

A great update! What I notice is that my actual content (dynamic pages) becomes relevant to Google... Since we moved to a non Frame solution we get our content realy indexed and deep-crawled...

My #1 placements haven't changed, but I've moved up from #4 to #3 for two of my most important (and competitive) keyphrases on www2 and www3. I'm also seeing an increase in the number of backlinks for my site and an increase of several hundred pages with an "allinurl" search.

Still, I never take anything for granted until the update is over. I've occasionally seen jumps in PageRank and SERP placement during an update, only to have things slip back to more normal levels afterwards.

The sites for which I am responsible have experienced improved positioning overall, including those in very tough categories. I'm a happy Beachboy. I see that one of my most ardent competitors is trying very hard to close the gap with one of my sites. I believe I will go sprinkle some Magic Dust and put him back in his rightful place. ;) Nice update for me overall, thank you, Google.

I don't want to get too far off topic, but the idea of PR envy caught my attention (as I'm a psychiatrist). While I'm not too knowledgable on Freudian theory per se, I find it interesting that we all watch to see who has the biggest Green Bar on the toolbar - and of course those of us who visit here regularly know that Google has a bigger green bar than anyone...

Regarding the update - I'm down a few notches on my most searched for terms, but I've gotten a more pages in for lesser searched terms and those are doing well. I can live with that. And I always keep my fingers crossed that the final version is better than the dance version.
