Well, I gained links but dropped Page Rank.

Logical explanation is that Google diluted PageRank across the board again to make room for more indexed web pages in the 1-10 system.

back links is inbound links to your site

serps is search engine ranking page

www2 and www3 are the different data centers where the update goes on for 4-5 days before the entire results migrate over to www.google

so go to www2.google and type in your top keywords to see where you will rank approximately for the month of Feb.Look up Everflux in the site glossary [searchengineworld.com] and library

Don't even look at your pagerank for 2 days. It is the last thing to stabilize and even after 2 days I would not bet on it. It is just *more* likely to be right.

I hope PR hasn't settled down yet. Still, early indications are mine went down, my rank went up. From 30 to 6 and brand new site to #7.

My competitors are really going to be scratching their head when they see this one.

Good to see you, GG. Would you comment on those fresh tags? And on those new pages that have been found by freshbot but seem to be stable in the SERPs?

This is a VERY good update for me so far. I got a jump from PR4 to PR6 (even if it isn't stable it's a glimpse of a better PR), lots of quality backlinks and #1 twice and #2 and #4 for main keywords. Whoohoo, this sure makes a webmaster feel good about what he's doing :)

how is everyone seeing their pr? i still have the same amount of backlinks and pr in the google tool bar, but in the www2 server I have triple the backlinks. How does everyone see their change in PR?

ExtremeExports is your site listed in Google Directory?

if so, go to directory-sj.google.com and toggle down through all the categories until you get to your category page. By squinting real hard at your PageRank Bar at the far left, and comparing yours in relation to those above and below you, you can get a rough idea.

Plus, there is always the Handy Dandy PageRank Checker method (don't have that link with me at the moment but it's an awesome page) and the toolbar method but those two methods might confuse you.

Nope, I'm not listed in the google directory yet. My site is new. It's only been up since November. I want to see if I went from a pr4 to a pr5 (< pitiful when I see what kind of rank everyone here has. But listening and learning here will get me a great pr sooner than I think)

Extreme, you also need to consider that you may not have changed, so you ARE seeing the new one, or at least the likely new one. (My main page is unchanged, but I see differences in my interior pages.)

So what happens when we all buy ads and everyone has 1.2 million backlinks to their site?

Okay, maybe someone can explain (very short, sorry) to me, my old backlinks were 14 and my competitor had 34, now it shows me having 76 and my competitor still has 34 (on www2) on my IE Browser it still shows the 14 Backlinks, could it be that my toolbar isn't updated yet? since the servers show the 76 and my browser still shows the old?

I sure hope the results in WWW2 are pretty close to the final update results....I'm showing up number one after crying for days about disappearing from the SERP's altogether for 2 weeks....If I really remain number one for my keywords, I have only everybody here at webmaster to thank....this is the greatest forum I have ever seen...so informational....phenomenal people...in advance, thank you all!

btw, google fresh bot is in my site as of 20 minutes ago..is that odd during a dance?

Well this one's a mystery to me. The number of pages indexed on both my sites has sharply dropped. I just checked my profile site - it went from 329 to 210 indexed pages. The ones that are now missing have no pattern that I can see at all: they aren't linked from any particular page, they aren't in one directory, they don't have content any different from all the others. My server must have randomly nodded off, or Google must have dropped an index packet somewhere.

If anyone else is seeing something similar I'd be glad to hear about it and maybe we can find a common cause; otherwise I'll have to cross my fingers and hope it fixes itself.

If www2 will be www.google as soon as the process done,
well, I guess this is a coming soon of good news.

I wasn't lucky at last re-index. My indexed page went
down from 1530 to 61. Visitor droped from 5k to 1,5k daily.
But, fortunately, my PR is OK.

And now, backlink(according to Zapatista) is 15,800 and
'allinurl' command gives me 4,020. I will get 2,500 new
webpage indexed. Thanks.

I must say the RDF dump is finally really po'ing me. Sites that should be dropping in ranking manage to hold their place due to the Google Directory PR, while sites that have made ODP-based changes don't get the full value of a new link.

For example.... site of a fellow who had content on an AOL page is still in the Google directory, getting the benefit of a PR7 link while that AOL site has been removed from DMOZ and replaced with a new, stand-alone domain. The stand alone domain now has the one ODP PR7 link, while the now dead AOL page also has one. Instant mirrors. The AOL one will instantly die once the RDF dump dumps it out of the Google directory, but till then it has high pagerank and clutters the search results with a duplicate. </rant>

On backlinks I just checked two pages using www2 and 3. On the PR6 page the number of backlinks went up. On my PR7 page the number went down. I hope this doesn't mean my PR7 page will go down a notch.

I'd check more but a granny has got to get some sleep even during the Google dance. :)

were these new pages or pages that were a result of fresh tags? If so they may have been gone as a result of yesterday's web snafu virus thingy.
