I know that it's early but one of my sites just had about 40 pages indexed. Has this happened to anyone else?

"Oops! looks like I have just won the idiot award. I always though that the moon phases where different, depending on what area of the world you whre in. I though our full moon was a few days before or after say for exapmle the full moon in australia?"
It was just a joke from an ex-colonial, mack :) I guess you're technically right as accors the international dateline there would be a theoretical 1 day difference.
Related to your second comment "ever wondered what it would be like at the Googleplex? Will it work, will we break it, will the results be good... And we thing we have it tough."
Ever notice we never seem to hear/read anything from ex SE employees on the inner workings? What do they do, make them sign a lifetime confidentiality agreement in blood?

Silly, that's because that's where they make the Soilient Green! Ex SE employees are all recycled...

I hope the crawl will be midnight cuz the everflux effect is giving me the creeps.

ps.
I saw 'Suppress the onUnload JavaScript event' in google options, must be the olmost full moon that made me see it for the first time...
great stuff, (but it don't work for the onload in framesetted files.)

Are you using the "link:" count to distinguish "everflux" from "dance"?

I am seeing different ranking results on www and www2, but same "link:" counts on www and www2. Not sure what this situation means. Dance started or not...

I have a question and I'm not sure it belongs here, but it could be associated somehow.

I've come across these visits in my traffic logs. There was probably 20 all within 5 minutes. Are these searches done off of the google toolbar?

[toolbar.google.com...]

Thanks for all the great information by the way, I've learned tons here.

I just figured out where those toolbar referers come from. If a user has enabled "I'm feeling lucky", and that is used, you get that toolbar referrer.

Thanks, well I guess that's good news! Too bad it doesn't state which keyword...

Well, I'm waiting for the update too. Today, Googlebot started crawling one of our sites again. This crawl is just like all the others each month. Requesting the same pages in the same order as they have for months on this site. The only thing different is that usually the update is underway before they start the crawl.

I wonder whether the entire notion of a monthly "update" has gone away. Do you suppose...?

I have a couple of new sites that were crawled last month but have not appeared in any index yet so hopefully not :o ...

Probably, don't make this thread something like this one:

[webmasterworld.com...]

Probably ALL TIME PRE GOOGLE UPDATE RECORD.
If i am correct there was 266 posts about "pre-update things*"

Only 146 to go.

Wondering if Google is now transitioning to a model where the update occurs in small increments throughout the month and the big fat monthly update as we know it vanishes.

Nah, it will be early this week (probably tomorrow morning) I reckon. They launched the new Google News section only a few days ago so they will be waiting before they role out the new index. Lucky Google employees have a play with the new index way before we get our greasy paws on it....
