steveb, I believe the 64.x.x.x data center has the change, but I'm not positive. We use different terminology inside Google. :)

Powdork, I'm not sure if you'd call it an update exactly (different algorithms play more of a role than different data). But I'm guessing the change will probably roll out over the course of the weekend.

We've definitely been working to incorporate new signals of quality and improve the way that we rank pages, so the results at the 64.x.x.x data center are not a rollback or pre-Florida results--it's several steps forward based on new ways of gauging quality and relevance. From my perspective, we're in a much better position than we were a few months ago to score pages and to incorporate new signals, which is a good thing for webmasters and users.

Just my two cents for folks who speculate that this is a rollback or revert..

I agree I can also see if you look carefully that its not a rollback its actually the last peice in the jigsaw has been placed in the puzzle.

Results are now based on the new improvements and i hope 64.**** does come through like GoogleGuy says because this does look like the way forward.

One of my sites is still not back but some are plus my competitors and I know their sites are worth the good ranking so as long as 64.xxx moves over to www we should all get back to building great web sites :)

Hi GG

Any clue as to the possible role greater reliance on semantics is playing in your never ending quest for more relevant results?

I think I said (or certainly meant) something similar but with a different terminology ;)

I will concede, a roll-back indicates an undoing of something or a reversion. This is certainly not that - it is a step forward on the path taken by Florida.

GoogleGuy would you mind answering a question that's been looming over my (and probably many other webmasters') head?

Has Google applied some sort of OOP or filter to the algorithm since the Florida update or was the drastic change in SERPs purely the result of new ranking criteria?

Hopefully you can answer this without revealing critical information or compromising company secrets.

The reason I ask is because many webmasters need a direction to apply their creative energy to and it would be good to know where to dedicate our time.

Yep your right there and these things don't take one update to introduce its takes a few but when its right it will knock the socks off other search engines.

heads up google is back and getting very close to its new goal.

I must be the only one who isn't satisfied with the results I'm seeing on 64.*

My site drops from 6 & 7 on page one, all the way to page three. Most of the results before me are irrelivent to my three work keyphrase. I don't use deceptive SEO practices...I don't even know how. I can't figure out why I've dropped.

I've already sent an email to webmaster at google. I wonder if I'll get an answer.

While SoCal is still showing 216x, I am seeing traffic from 64x....

Some parts of the country seem to be seeing 64x.

That may be your problem, you may be tripping a filter without even realizing you're doing it.

Well, if that's the case...I don't like the new filter!

I'm sure one of you veteran webmasters or SEOers out there will soon figure it out and hopefully share...please.

Um, wouldn't it make more sense to read up on spam practices and check your site with a fine tooth comb? Not saying that's what it is, but knowing what constitutes spam is one of the most important elements of SEO.

That's why I've been lurking/reading these forums. They've helped me tremendously. My point is that I haven't made any changes to my site and I go from page one on 216 to 3 on 64. So if I am tripping a NEW filter, I don't know what it is.
