There was a post here before

Open the file C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
and then insert this line to see the PR on -va. Or just do a search for hosts on your C drive

>> -kr
>> and -mc

Thanks :) These two shows 90 and 38 backlinks just like the rest. My domain name for that site is a made up word. For that reason, these searches:

http*//www.google.com/search?q=domain-name -> 790 results
http*//www.alltheweb.com/search?q=domain-name&_sb_lang=any -> 938 results

...are searches for the site name and nothing else (note: searches are without the .com). It appears as body text and/or links on the result pages. I have only checked a fraction of these 790 / 938 pages, but sofar each and everyone has a link to the site.

Because of this i find it safe to conclude that both Google and Alltheweb display only a fraction of the backlinks when using the "link:" tool. This fraction could very well be between 3% and 10% for Google and around 33% for Alltheweb in my case.

Added red, as "display" does not equal "to see" or "to count". Imho, these engines always know more than they show.

I tried to start a discussion with that post:

In the site I'm working at, we have four link exchanges with other sites and we know about two sites that link to our home without reciprocating.
During some months, only a part of those links and some internal links appeared when searching link:www.misite.com
But now it's even worse: some links have dissappeared, the Backward links search gives only 3 links: one from Yahoo Dir, the second from another website that we own and the last from one of the first sites that linked to us.
I've visited some of the linking sites: the links are still there and they are plain html
our description with all our keywords :P
My question is: ¿¿Where are our links? Do you know any way to make google find those links?

Moderators held it and refered me to this discussion, 'cause it was the same topic.
After reading many of the posts here, I want to add something:
My PR has not changed. I'm at spain and, no matter what preferences I set, I always get the results from Google España, that gaves worse position to my page 'cause its IP is not spanish but american (we have remote hosting). This happens from some weeks ago, so I don't know how have changed our ranking. I only know that -va, -gv and -kr give the same results (there are some minor changes): always second page for major keywords.
And seraching for my links at everywhere in google gives only the same three links that google españa.
Note: searching allintext:"mydomain.com" gives the three backlinks and some internal.
I only have a question remaining: ¿¿Where are our backlinks? If this nonsense continues, I will get completely crazy (if I'm not already:P)
If somebody can answer, thanks!

When do you expect these changes to go live?

I only have 2 backlinks over a PR4, and they are the only 2 that show on Google. ATW shows about 300 :D

Finally the increase in backlinks has gone live with 60 new backlinks added to my site. My website has now moved up to #2 in 3.4 m results for my main keyword. Strangely, the backlinks for my top 2 competitors have not budged. I wonder if this is a co-incidence or if there is more to come.

Other than us moving up, the other sites in the top 10 positions have remained unchanged so it does not seem that there had been much twiddling with the Goole algo.

My pagerank has remained at PR5 while a few of my new sites with far fewer links have also moved up to PR5. It seems to me that it is now relatively easy to get to PR5 but murder to move to PR6. Doesn't seem to be affecting my ranking though, although my pride is a bit bruised.
