I play by the rules, I havn't optimised my name at all.
All I see in the first 100 pages of results for 'paul' is spam sites - paul in the title, paul in the domain name, they even put 'paul' in the content!
Should I fill out a spam report?
Or perhaps I should change my name by deed poll to
Paul
. Do you think that would help?
erm, not trying to offend anyone here, just a bit of fun...
Although Googleguy could probably track us all down if he cared to - just because most people would be searching for their own nick and their own url most on their fixed broad-band IP.
Also did a search on Kaled. Loads of results including some in arabic (I think). Finally found a WW post that I sent on 25th May. Coincidentally, it was titled "What's in a Name?".
Kaled.
I can't be found via Google*, but some numbers anyway:
Firstname - 11,000,000
Lastname - 766,000
Firstname Lastname - 21,800
"Firstname Lastname" - 57 total, 27 displayed (1 fictional character & 3 real people with the SERPs heavily dominated by one of them)
I didn't think my full name was so 'rare,' especially since I share it with my father. ;)
*Well, you could find me if you search for my first name, the subject of my site in its broadest sense and a third, more topical, search term. Best third term I found, in 5 minutes of looking, put me at #5 & 6 out of 15,600.
On a site note, Larry [google.com] Page is not in the top 10 results for his first name, but Sergey [google.com] Brin is #1. Kinda funny, isn't it? ;)
