I didn't get #1 for my first name either, apparently there's a country somewhere that was named after me. ;)

To level the playing field I think we need to apply the first name frequency tables...

I see a mention here about blogging, but how many of you are actually doing it?

I'm doing it on 4 blogs and I'm really happy with the way I can get into all the search engines on almost any keyword I choose in around 18 hours and sometimes even less.

Yes, Google, Yahoo and all of them.

But how much longer will it be before the search engines start to provide blog filters?

Not long I suspect.

Well, let's see...

#40 (of 3,850,000) - D.G.
(including varient DG)

#1 (of 335,000) - D.G. Brown
(inlcuding varients like DG Brown)

I'm not in the first 1000 for my first name, but I only have it on one page in my site that I can think of.

#12 for Dustin (thanks to Dustin Hoffman)
#88 for Woodard
#1 through #38 for "Dustin Woodard" or all but one or two of the 428 results.

Quick scan through the top 500 SERS on Google, no where to be found... but I guess Paul is a little common. :)

Little old me could never compete with Matt's Scripts, Matt Damon, Matt Drudge, Matt Lauer, Matt Damon, Matt Groening, Matt Damon, Matt Kenseth, etc.

Did I mention Matt Damon? Dude has lots of fans.

I am, however, No. 3 on my first and last name. Woo-hoo!

Sorry Brett,

You've been penalized back to #176. I think some of those inbounds are a bit of trouble for your continued success at #171.

No luck finding my Jon. I think some on-page optimization is required. :)

Out of 231,000 results for Liane, my WebmasterWorld member profile is #220!

Not in the top 600 for anything else ... got bored and decided not to look any further.

first name: 14,300,000 hits. I didn't read enough of them to find myself.

surname: 60,000 hits. Geneology sites 'till I show up on page six.

firstname surname: 12,100 hits, and I have seven on the first page, including WW posts.

firstname initial surname: 8,100 hits, 6 on first page are me.

"firstname initial surname": I own it. What a suprise, as not only is it pretty narrow, it's also very much the name I use in public. Anything shorter is for friends, or not used at all, which has the effect of optimizing a bit.

Interestingly, a page of mine with pretty much nothing on it but my name in the <title> and <h1> tags soundly beats the one with actual info on it. Apparently, there's no such thing as too much keyword density.

I don't mind being beaten by Peter Gabriel, but by Peter Rabbit and Peter Pan starts to grind on my nerves...

#1 for Jeroen out of 469.000, but I have the .com domain and it's a dutch name, so it was quite easy! ;-)

Well, in some way it's pretty handy when you meet someone somewhere and tell him/her: Go to Google, Google my name and you'll find me!

I love Egosurfing ;-)

162 for my nickname - VERY interesting to search. Who would have thought internet access companies and psychology departments would be named after me ;).

I looked for my real full name and at 300 I gave up. Turns out there is apparently a famous actress also with it and sites about her make up 80% of the first 300 results ;).

#3 for my full name due to my name appearing in a post that I made on ICANN.org forum in which I plastered Verisign.

HOWEVER, I'm 1 - 15 for nickname, all WW...of course! Thanks WW - I needed that :)

Anyone tried an ego-Adword?
