Update is on :)
Is it possible that newly indexed links are not showing up with the link command but are affecting serps while older links that are missing are not affecting serps (although the fact that they are missing is affecting serps)?
Brett's spaghetti effect - is really prominent in this update.
I've never seen that before. Couldn't find it in a search. Could someone tell me what that is?
Thanks.
Throw it at the wall and see what sticks!
Widgets is a very competitive term and although search for by lots (say 100,00/day) 99% of click through traffic isn't looking for what you have.
blue widgets + brown dots + "Rochester New York" is a money maker, much less competitive and if you are in Rochester New York and you have "widgets" and have a promotion called "blue brown dots"... you stick.
A web page isn't only a word or two and Google snippets the most appropriate... therefore a good probably... even though you lose that 99,900 unqualified traffic... you gain 200K in qualified once only queries... "the spaghetti effect".
- Spam filters don't seem to have been kicked in yet in full-force. I see a lot of mirror sites/spam that is usually filtered out. Unless of course Google likes this ;)
- Many of the cache/titles are from previous updates for many searches I'm following.
... let the pot brew!
At one point she asked me if I had any pets. To which I responded, "Why yes I do have a pet." She asked "Well what type of pet is it?" I said "Well it requires lots of attention and hates being left alone and I have to keep giving it fresh content or else it'll be left in the dust and everyone would be complaining about it." She then said, "Well that's very interesting." and asked, "what do you call it?" I said, "A website"
She smiled a little bit then thought she would get one up on me so she asked, "Well doesn't it have anyone else to play with?" And naturally I said "Why yes! It has a GoogleBot but right now they aren't getting along so well and that's why I'm here having a few drinks you..."
She gave me her number and told me to call :0)
My site is no longer #1 on www2 or www3, but instead at #2 and #3 are subpages of it. This is how it was a few months ago when it first got ranked and prob. not completely spidered.
Also, a new site i have with no backlinks has went in at number 4! It is a reasonably competitive search term so there is something funny going on.
I would be surprised if this is the final update - it looks to me like there are a lot more inbound links to be accounted for.
Anyone else noticing something? It seems only to be newly indexed sites but something is happening.
www2 & www3 are the same...!

Simon.
Anyway welcome back everyone. It was quiet in here for a bit.
Either I need another beer or to get some sleep. My internal links are gone. My backlinks are about 3 from 40 or so and yet I got new users coming to the site for the first time from all over the place and orders are picking up...hmmm
I will need to investigate this further after breakfast sleep and a gallon of coffee.
