October 2011 AdSense Earnings & Observations

Thought I'd kick off the thread this month just to prove I'm still here ;)

Same here. Normally I kill it October. Have for seven years - but not this Oct. And yesterday the 29th - was so low. I did turn off internet based ads yesterday afternoon to see if it would help. Nope. Served better ads - but didn't help with earnings.

Tried the same thing Frost_Angel - switched them off for a few days this month, and like yourself, targeting improved a little, but earnings saw no improvement at all. I also tried instating my blocked list and removing it on a few occasions during the month, and that didn't make much difference either.

Horrible Sunday, US clicks at 113.9% yet earnings at 68.1% and EPC at 61.3%.

Easily my poorest day's performance from the US in months.

Do you mean Interest Based Ads instead of Internet Based Ads?

It's interesting how some people believe you can just switch them off and on at will and others are equally convinced you can't do that.

After all was said and done I think I'll do about what I did the month before. The beginning of October was horrible but built up by the end of the month. I really don't think you can compare day to day because there are too many variables that effect CPC and CTR.

Example.. yesterday, sunday, worse day of the month. Today at 10 am my time I'm already twice as much as yesterday and still have 17 hours to go.

Farmboy: I switched both: Interest-based Ads Preference to off and Third Party Ads Preference to off and it didn't help at all.
Switched it back and see a tiny improvement - but it could also be that it's Monday and not Sunday. Weekends are lowest for me.

Someone mentioned to me yesterday that there are many without power because of snow - maybe that hurt earnings as well?

If you turn off something, you have to do it for months. Not a single day, to see a difference.

I thought I'd just do a quick comparison to see if I'm still about the same earnings down since Panda 2.1:

Oct 2011 v 2010 is 45%
Oct 2011 v Sept 2011 is 97.1%

Do I assume that November will bring the same as last year, a thorough spanking from about 19/20th November onwards?

If that does occur I may just remove AdSense since 45% of SFA is still SFA!

Yea, the snow kinda snarfed up the end of my month - for one of my top performing areas this time of year, 70% of it is currently without power. Who expected that kind of snow in October?

My month ended 35% above my previous all time high (which was the month before). I can only hope november lives up to my higher and higher expectations :)

I have been running adsense sites since 2006 and have a couple of them, regular as clockwork, these sites would earn about €10 a day.... for the past couple of months it's been cents a day.. yesterday was just 1 cent!..

I think now is the time to remove the adsense from the sites... I am not giving away free advertising!

October earnings dropped 28% from September and down to less than half of where they were a year ago.

My October earnings were down 80% from what they were a year ago. I have Adify ads running with Google as an alternate, and I will be replacing the remaining Google 336s with another advertiser today.

I have checked my websites and most of the adsense banners are showing

no wonder I am not earning...
