Just an hour or so to end oct 6, for around 10000 impressions this morning (Taiwan time, GMT+8), I'm seeing single digit earnings.
CTR has plummeted, eCPM is plummeted, and earnings worse this morning. Impressions are counting normally though.
Anyone seeing similar things?

Statcounter is reporting twice the amount of clicks. I think Google needs to feed that Adsense mule.

number of clicks seems to be normal BUT click value is really really the worst

I've had the worse day this month...
What is going on?
Personally I think ads are not being served/showing on all my pages... but I can't check all countries..

The thing is smoking fast today! By 5 am I had already made the average daily earnings this month. That's just rare right there. I did make some changes though... Yesterday I received another of those "silly" emails from Google giving me some suggestions I've always ignored or not implemented them fully. I don't trust image ads. I thought they were off-topic, too general and used only for brand marketing. I never trusted anything Google had to suggest. Basically Google suggested to set both, text and image on all my ads. Well, I did last night and earnings today are on its way to be a record breaking day, hopefully.

As many of you know, part of the email said:

"Opting in to both Text / Image means more competition!

We've found that our publishers who show both image and text ads are able to earn higher revenues. Opting into both text and image ads increases competition among the ads competing to appear on your site, as both text and rich media ads (image, flash and video) will compete in the ad auction. We will then automatically display the ads which will yield the highest earnings for you."

Turns out they were right, in my case anyway.

@cien - Interesting. The opposite happens to me. Whenever I change a block to image/text, my CTR goes WAY down, which of course means less earnings. I guess it all depends on the niche.

When you switch formats, CTR can go down, but that doesn't mean earnings will.

I'm not saying this didn't happen to you, I'm just saying the logic used to make the connection is not correct.

thanks BillyS.
What about "Third Party Ads Preference". do you allow or don't allow Advertises to use their audience ...... ?

@BillyS -

In my 3 year experience with Adsense, if my CTR goes way down, it always means lower earnings. The more users who click on my ads, the more money I make. Isn't this the way it works for you?

Sure, some days I might have a lower CTR with higher than average earnings, but only if I get lucky that day and get a couple $15 clicks or something :)

I hope this is just the end of the month advertisers running out of money thing. Today is HORRIBLE!

@WolfLover - I think a lot AdWords advertisers have been putting a lot of their time and attention on their Bing accounts of late, due to the Yahoo/Bing search merger. I think this will pass soon though.

I also changes my ads to both text_images a week ago
Had several good days but then everything went south
Now back to October disaster earning

Discovered long ago that image ads don't work for me. I'm better off (and doing good) with plain vanilla text ads.

No, that's not my experience. The only factor that is important is eCPM. But then again, I also don't see the fluctuations that others in this particular thread see.

Up 40% from September. Definitely the best month ever. Wish I would've listened to Google earlier. Here comes November!

No special tips. It is the way it is.

I was expecting an increase in earnings for Sept and Oct, and it happened. Expecting the same for Nov and Dec too.
