PageRank Update - Jan 2007

Google PageRank appears to be changing - has anyone noticed their Google PageRank changing? For the last 2 days my PageRank appears to be dropping by 1 but then at other times, it appears as the same as it's been for the past 2 months.

I've checked other places and they say the old PageRank but maybe we're on the verge of another PageRank change?

Anyone notice this?

I did see something really odd today. Checking pr on my site
Mine came up same number as usual, site just above me came up one more point than mine, however the top ranked site for the same search terms came up like this

Google Pagerank for 'http://www.mycompetitor/subdirectory/ ' is currently -1 out of 10.

-1? what the heck does that mean .. i've never seen that before ever.

Hi, my blog has dropped from a 4 to a 0 in the course of the last month. I have not added any new links and I have not accepted any SPAM- Comments...
Anyone else experience anything like this and how do I deal with it. The main site is still ranking a 4 but alot of the other internal pages are down on PR...

Hello All, I really think you just have to relax. It is always been like that. During Pr updates PR jumping down and up. I think that within 2 weeks all PR will be back to establish mode.

I had a strange effect.

I went to my established PR6 then to the one that was PR5 it then showd PR 6 then if you reloaded it was PR 5, alos when you went to it immediately.

Today it's PR6 whatever I do.

First time I have replied on this site. Hello to all. Thank Heavens I am not alone.

Based in the UK (co.uk site) and what is going with the google export here? My backlinks went up fabulously - more than 300% (at last) last week. Site has been a PR 3 for 1 year and finally showing a predicted PR of 5 (2 weeks ago) and looking good. Google export started and went down to PR0 and then to PR 5, then 4 and now back to PR 3. My Google index count went up wonderfully. I am confused, anyone in the UK having similar problems? Showed an increase on rankings with Google which is one bonus I guess.

Looks, like I will have to wait until the next PR export.

I'm in the UK. I haven't seen any change in Toolbar PR in months. Pages on one site in particular have been flipping from zero to 4 (or 3), then back to zero - like this for several months. I'm finding it amusing.

I read what is happening in this forum with google at the moment. It is all very confusing. You would think that the best brains in the SEO mathmetical world would get it right. We all work hard on our websites. We are passionate about our business. I am unsure whether the google export in the UK has finished but it appears there is alot of work to be done if I am going to get a PR 4. Google PR is all over the place for us but ranking is up. Backlinks sooooooooo much better and PR jumping. Hope you doing OK?
Is it finished in the UK and do we have to wait until May to see the next export?

May one enquire as to why you guys still think that pagerank 1 to 10 (toolbar)has the slightest relevancy to SERP? - Internal PR is updated daily - toolbar is merely a 'gimmick' and shows out of date information.
The ONLY time that toolbar PR has the slightest impact on your ratings is IF and it is a big IF - someone searches your keywords on Google Directory - or if when selling a website with a high toolbar PR that you are lucky enough to find someone who is gullible enough to believe that something that updates every 3 months can effect your site.

Does google even know they have a directory? It is all copyright 2005, and its dmoz info is way out of date.

Google knows it still has a Directory - but Google no longer feeds from DMOZ - which is why or a main part of the reason why DMOZ went off line . Oh and just in case someone say's 'where do I get my information from?' To quote the expression that Google loves to read 'Google my username' Cheers David Castle

It is one thing to no longer pull from dmoz. It is something else when you say that you are on 1000s of pages, but you are really just using 2+ year old data.

If you go to the any google directory page they have copyright at the bottom like: Modified by Google - ©2005 Google

Right above the copyright is the DMOZ links. All the data on any google directory page is from early 2005. The only way to get to the fresh data is to actually search the google directory. The problem with searching the directory is you have to know the name of the company you are searching for. Even then google recognizes the company as part of the directory, but does not list the company on the link they give.

Re Firefox - this is the whole point and why trying to get people to understand that toolbar pr is non functional can best be explained as follows.

When the toolbar was introduced its priciple function was as a pop up stopper - BUT - Yahoo, ASK and everyone else followed, so then we had News Alerts - copied - then PR - Now when PR was first introduced, guys like myself and others realised that for the first time we could see into the Algorithm system being used - we had part of the Google secrets in our grasp, so we used it and with good results. Google realised what was going on and stopped the system by updating every three or four months. So what you are seeing is 'Old Pagerank' indeed you are only seeing a glimpse of it.
