I'm impressed. Those amazing Jaggers make me really happy. I want weekly Jaggers, and I'm not kidding. All my stuff ranks fair where it belongs, even new sites as if there is no sandbox.

I've lost a significant amount of Google traffic on old sites, some of them 5+ years old, but to stay honest they didn't deserve their former rankings. A while ago I've dumped a few established SEO tactics, all WH stuff like honest link building campaigns BTW, and (re)invented a few. It was worth it.

I hate the update thread whining and usually I don't post in those soap operas, but I thought somebody should say something positive: The Jagger update rocks!

Good point.

The Jagger update rocks so far!

However, I guess it will be good to me in the end, just like all the recent updates and adjustments.

I hope so for your sake Sebastian, I wouldn't want you to join the rest of us 'whiners'. I think many of us are finding solace in some of the emails since we are in the same boat. Today could make or break some business's so you should forgive us our moanings.

[66.102.9.104...]
these SERPs really suck in travel area. They look like the only way to get to the top for travel keywords is buy a very old domain, autogenerate zillion of pages so that you cover every single piece of industry and wait for the boost.
It also seems to me that big emphasis has been put on the keyword "widget", what allows large autogenerated sites rank above specialist in "red widgets", "green widgets" and "cheap widgets".
Google commercial SERPs will now look like a regular shopping mall. I believe, users decided to start using Google because of the SERRPs showing mom and pop stuff.
SERPs visible at [66.102.9.104...] show that Google decided to become an online shopping mall showing big names at the top.

In the sector I watch, [66.102.9.104...] has me in 34th from 2nd. And ahead of me now are 6 scrapers and 4 404'ed Korean pages.

Am I supposed to believe this is the best Google can do?

StriderUK, my intention was not to 'attack whiners'. I know how it feels when Google tanks sites or even networks of sites. It happened to me, and I've learned a lot. I hate the soap operas because they are useless, a waste of time. Instead of reading thousands of posts, most w/o substance due to the ToS, I prefer to analyse an update when it's over, although my stats during an update do make me nosy sometimes;)

Google for information, Froggle for shopping? May be that's the take home message from the big G after Jagger has run its course?

That is so true. Many of us have had a good ride and it may be time to re-invent ourselves, including a whole lifestyle change. I am seriously thinking of down sizing, going CO2 neutral and discovering what my children's names are!

Its kind of exciting to have a new clean slate, with a fresh start. Every cloud has a silver lining.

Ok

Last time before the storm hits:-

Listen google The canonical url for my site is the homepage with the www - I have done the 301 - this is the page with the most backlinks - it is the page that should rank for the company name search. Etc."

Good luck everyone :)

Yes - remember Jagger3 will hopefully bring a fix for certain issues - but not only that is a base G will be moving forward on for the next year or so perhaps.

Some people will say dont rely on Google to much - but Google can build and destroy a business by itself - eg like when a Car Plant closes in a certain area - lots of little companies close that provide for that car plant.
