I've lost a significant amount of Google traffic on old sites, some of them 5+ years old, but to stay honest they didn't deserve their former rankings. A while ago I've dumped a few established SEO tactics, all WH stuff like honest link building campaigns BTW, and (re)invented a few. It was worth it.
I hate the update thread whining and usually I don't post in those soap operas, but I thought somebody should say something positive: The Jagger update rocks!
Its not over 'til its over.
I hope so for your sake Sebastian, I wouldn't want you to join the rest of us 'whiners'. I think many of us are finding solace in some of the emails since we are in the same boat. Today could make or break some business's so you should forgive us our moanings.
Am I supposed to believe this is the best Google can do?
That is so true. Many of us have had a good ride and it may be time to re-invent ourselves, including a whole lifestyle change. I am seriously thinking of down sizing, going CO2 neutral and discovering what my children's names are!
Its kind of exciting to have a new clean slate, with a fresh start. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Last time before the storm hits:-
Listen google The canonical url for my site is the homepage with the www - I have done the 301 - this is the page with the most backlinks - it is the page that should rank for the company name search. Etc."
Good luck everyone :)

Yes - remember Jagger3 will hopefully bring a fix for certain issues - but not only that is a base G will be moving forward on for the next year or so perhaps.
Some people will say dont rely on Google to much - but Google can build and destroy a business by itself - eg like when a Car Plant closes in a certain area - lots of little companies close that provide for that car plant.
