I'm getting different link counts for WebmasterWorld on all three servers....
Note to mods: Please, delete if I'm wrong, I hate it when people cry wolf but I was always told the link counts were the way to tell....

Seconds away from screaming the same thing - a very real change on 2 and 3 - and believe me, there's no way I want to slapped down as a trigger-happy newbie. This smells like the real thing. Mat

YESSSSSS!
My site that was out this month because of a domain registrar mixup is back in.

Wawhoooo! How sad for a mans ambition to be the first to post the Update! notice on WebmasterWorld ;);)

Ya think? (still digging - looks like the real deal - but... let's make sure it's not the famous warm up excersizes.)

Yep - looks lovely - my particular sacrifice seems to have been accepted - no more domination by cr*ppy multi-hyphenated-keyword-stuffed-domain-names. Excellent.

All the link numbers have changed and my positions (for the worse I am sad to report!)

Well bloomin' eck! It looks like my profile site is back in (fingers, toes and knees crossed)
And my new site... oh joy.. thank you Google! :)
[edit]/me adds the *final* site affected by last year's crosslinking to my profile[/edit] ;)

A site I moved to my ISP the night of the last update is showing at the new URL, it's the real deal. The links aren't showing yet, though.
Good news about your site, nutsandbolts.

Yes, my new site is in but not showing for any keywords at all....
Is this normal? The optimization is good, incoming pr6 links...why isn't it showing?

Ok, so what is different in this update?
New algo, or the same?

I think it's a newish algo. There has certainly something changed here - trying to find one of my sites with a set of keywords that's worked for over a year and it isn't showing. It looks like they have changed the keyword-in domain thing as mat says too.
Nick - same thing is happening with one of my sites.... very odd!

Now I do not want to panic anyone, but has anyone else seen a shift in PR ? I am getting an changing PR on some of our sites one minute it is X and then another it is Y.
I guess this is part of the Aug update - anyone else ?

PR in the toolbar won't settled down for several days.

Like you Marcia my site got blown out because of what I think was a web server hiccup. At the moment I'm #1 and #2 for my key search term, and #5, 6, 7, and 8 for the second most important search term (this happening because I now am running 2 sites.) And #5 and #6 for the other main single word search term.

looking good, keeping fingers crossed.
Shame that I added a really important page after the last update :(

It will appear to fluctuate between the new and old results. It will settle down in 4-5 days.

Good to see your site back rfgdxm1!
This is so nerve racking... I wish Google would update every week and not monthly...

Does this mean that if you see PR X which is what the site was before but now you keep seeing PR Y (switching between the two) that it is likely that you will end up with PR Y after the 4/5 days ?

thanks Brett - cant wait, looking through webmasterworld i have listened and taken advice - applied it to my site and the results seem to be paying off already, not bad for my first attemp, but i guess i have to wait those 4-5 days for the full results, but its exciting
thanx everyone

Looks a lot better than the last update, even though the changes are subtle. Looks like fewer spammy domain names, but still too many...

Just another quick question on this. I note on www3 that in backward links there are quite a few pages, which are noindex and also nocache.
Have people seen this before ? Can I page that has no index and no cache still have a pr ?
Brett_Tabke
10:33 am on Aug 21, 2002 (gmt 0)
>no index AND pr
Sure. Just because the page isn't listed, doesn't mean it can be ranked on it's inbound links.

what i expected, some rises in certain SERPs, no falls, and watching some of the competition fall, hehe.
