Heard back from Google - their reply said that they could find it in the index. I used the link they provided which basically did a URL find in the search bar and voila it appeared... OF COURSE I had tried this numerous times over the last 24 hours without any success.
I then tried the keyword which has our name in it (a nonsense word that has no competition and has returned us in the #1 position since we were first indexed) and guess what - it came back too...
The support folks at Google turned around with an answer within 24 hours but their response (other than the link they provided) was canned with typical stuff about - sites and content change... we can't guarantee... blah, blah, blah - I asked for further clarification and will see if anything else comes back.
At least we're back (for now!)
Buzz
During the days preceding page rank and SERPs coming back, Google, Yahoo, and Alta-Vista beat the hell out of my server with their spiders. My processor load jumped from 3% to 97%. My network traffic increased 30 fold.
And so here I am again, wondering what in the hell is going on with Google. Will Google ever give a strait answer to anyone? IMHO, it's not very likely.
Google is like life, it's up and down, up and down. It's never an even, flat and straight road. You should have been diversifying your traffic sources/income sources with all that free time you had when your site was doing great.
The site of mine that godaddy lost for me was a traffic diversification website, not my most important ones. Losing it was a damp rain on my parade but it wasn't going to wipe me out.
Webmasters/SEOs should anticipate days like this and have a back up plan they can put into action as well as diversifying their traffic sources.
If you're not on that subnet, go to http://www.google.com/contact/spamreport.html and in the "additional details" section use the keyword "crawlmysite" and then tell me your site name and your WebmasterWorld nickname. I'll ask someone to check out and see if it's something at our end or whether there's some ISP/router out on the net that's not letting Googlebot in.
Just to let everyone know… all of my sites have been re-indexed since relocating them to another server. Googlebot has been visiting regularly. Is it possible that godaddy had a blocked IP? I think Google Guy has pretty much clarified that for us.
For those of us who are asking should I move to new servers, well if your traffic has dwindled to mere trickle, what more do you have to loose? It certainly can’t hurt at this point. However, use the info posted by Google Guy and check to see if you have a block IP preventing the spiders from crawling.
At this point, I've only verified that several websites that complained were hosted on the subnet that I mentioned, and someone has told me that Googlebot IPs can't reach a certain site but they found some other IPs that can. Saying there's blocking going on is premature. Having been on the receiving end of negative assumptions and nasty stories based on inaccurate/wrong data, let's hold off on any pointing fingers at this point. I have to be gone this weekend out of reach of browsing/email, and I wanted to clarify that it's premature to guess about what's going on at this point.
I've been pulling my hair out for a week trying to figure out why a site was dropped from the index. The host for the site didn't have anywhere that they were a reseller for GoDaddy, but I did a reverse lookup on the domain and it's on the 63.241.136.x range.
We're considering moving the site this weekend.
Thanks for the hard work, though. I got a reply from Google but it just mentioned the webmaster page for Google, etc. etc. etc.
This is a relief! (well, almost. once we get the host switched ;)
I'm in the process of leaving GoDaddy too.

Hosted in the Phoenix area as well. I think it may be a router issue in the Scotsdale/Phoenix area. Go Daddy is located in Scotsdale AZ, and my host company is also located in Phoenix/Scotsdale area.
I'll bet that this is an issue with a router or something strange in the AZ area. Are there any other users here that have hosting in the southwest area (particularly AZ)?
There were some wide spread networking issues out of NM that affected Yahoo network 2 weeks ago, I'm going to bet that there is a similar issue going on in AZ right now... it actually might be the samed @#$#@$ router (it was a COX.net issue).
Here's to hoping, Go Daddy, Google, and Cox (if that is the porblem router) can get it resolved.

just for all the GD hosted sites webmasters out there who lit on this thread. (although it's always a nice "aha! I knew it!" moment isn't it?)
This is *NOT* only a GD problem, go back and read the whole thread! REPEAT ... This is *NOT* only a GD problem, go back and read the whole thread!
Thanks the Googleguy for providing an outlet (See message 124, page 9) for those of us frustrated for weeks by an indexing problem as *orginally* started by darrell and experienced by others (*not* on GD hosted servers!).
Has anyone been able to determine if this symptom started about the same time G brought in broad matching on adwords and/or did some fiddling with adsense? (just a thought ....)
Zapastista's post is always a timely reminder ...
>Webmasters/SEOs should anticipate days like this and have a back up plan they can put into action as well as diversifying their traffic sources.<
... but doesn't help when you're already doing that.
I guess this is a symptom of what we (webmasters/seo/sems) get when an elephant with the biggest tusks arrives on the scene and it's the only one we wanna photograph!
Come on AV ... we need you quick! (Actually, economic wisdom has it that 12 is the optimum number for a "product" to be in equilibrium price/competition/market share wise .... hmmmm ...)
