IMHO, I'd be careful what you wish for. Say updates came twice a month and in the first update you do real well and then in the second you do really poorly. Would you not rather had just had one update that month and received as much business from it as possible?
Just a thought.

Does google ever update on Weekends or does everyone think the earliest will be Monday? From what I can remember, updates are usually business days..

If they are anything like us there are certain days to avoid. For instance our IT team do not like to do anything on a Monday as they are looking at logs and things that happened over the weekend.
Neither do they like to do things on a Friday (because if it goes wrong it then spills into the weekend.
I believe that someone said the most common days are Tuesday and Thursday....
skipfactor...now you'll have everyone excited....just wait and see "oooooh sunday...that's tomorrow...."

Only 7 out of 30 updates summarized in Brett's table have occurred on Sunday. That's only 23%. The other 77% have occurred on other days.

They did an unprecedented 48 hr countdown announcement when the update thread went wacko last month, can't hurt.

well with 12.9% on a monday 6.4% on a tuesday 16.1% on a Wednesday 22.6% on a Thursday 9.7% on a Friday 9.7% on a Saturday 22.6% on a Sunday
Well as Sunday would mean exactly one month after the last update and I would not survive until Thursday for an update I'd put my bets on Sunday.

Based on the percentages above, I would give it a 100% chance of occuring sometime betwen Monday and Sunday.

Sunday would also mean exactly one year after the last March update, which was on April 6th 2002. Please let it be Sunday.

I still see fresh-date stamps. My understanding (and from what I have seen in the past) is that those usually disappear a day or two before the dance starts. Have any of you ever observed the dance beginning with fresh-date stamps still listed?
Thanks C

I still see fresh-date stamps...Anyone observe differently?
I searched for "news" an hours ago and some news sites on 1st SERP page had April 3 tags (FOXnews), some had April 4 (CNN). Checked my humble site, all April 4 tags...
Checked "news" now, all April 4. Everflux?

Well we defiantly had some strange Everflux’s last night (either that or I was so drunk I was seeing things) 8 datacenters produced three different results. None of them positive for me :\ Thing’s seem to have stabled out some this morning. No freshbot for me in the past 24 hour’s. Sunday works well, analyzing the availed data I would give Sunday a 90%.
