Yes, I thought of that too. The exact time of when the updated started would probably be inaccurate though. I wonder how much time would go by before someone noticed.

No sign of freshbot yesterday, anyone else the same? Anyone seen it in last day and a half?

Usually a sign of the update.

A few days ago a similar comment was made and I think GG stated that it was "way too early" or something to that effect.

Freshbot was still around yesterday and before that I had not seen it for 3 days.

Maybe start from this month, google dance will be in 'start of month' instead of the traditional 'end our month'.

Freshbot here today too [new york].

Wish GoogleGuy would push the shiny green button.

It must be SOOOOO tempting for him...

So Shiny.

So Green.

So pushable.

You know you want to GG, so as Nike promotes- "just do it".

Freshbot just hit one of my sites a few hours ago, and I still see fresh tags on SERPs.

GG was around here a lot for the last update, dropping hints, etc. Haven't seen much of him lately. Anyways...I hope it starts soon but I have a feeling it may be a bit longer.

"Yeah GoogleGuy will tell us. He'll make you all sad because he'll say, 'I think y'all are worrying far too early'."

I think y'all are worrying far too early. You've got to remember that the update earlier this month was just a little while ago. I wouldn't start worrying about an update yet.

OK - That it I am not looking again until Friday.

As GG was up so late on the last update he has probably requested it on the weekend so he can stay up late with a couple of drinks :)

Now that update Cassandra is almost upon us, who will be userped?

userp
Definition: (1) The process by which a webmaster seemingly loses their position on a search engine results page (SERP) unjustly. (2) The act of achieving a higher position in a SERP with a lower Google Page Rank (PR) than a competitor with a higher PR.

Well there had been some talk after the last update about "getting back on schedule"...even from GG. So I think that's why a lot of people have been expecting an update around the 1st. Anyways...guess we will keep waiting ;)

It could very well be Songkran - the Thai New Year - which is mid April.

The water festival where grown men, women and children alike get to throw water all over each other.

Of course it does have deeper meanings which still remain but has pretty much become a lot more fun!

Yes but the whole update thing around holidays is based on a lack of internet traffic. Everyone knows to bring their laptop and wireless access to Songkran, which actually increases internet traffic especially when they are all trying to find out what else they are supposed to do at Songkran by searching on Google. ;)

Back on the 8th March (just after the last update) Bio4ce asked when the deep crawl was likly to start and GoogleGuy's reply was
Glad you posted this--I was about to. I think the answer is that we'll start deepcrawling quite soon, in order to get closer to our regular schedule.

So at that point it looks like they were aiming for a late March update. Admittedly he did say think so don't read to much into it. Just imagine the frustration around here if their way of getting back on schedule was to do the next update on the 24th April! he he

The March update happened at the beginning of March. We did not have a Feb update.

Stands to reason, the April update will happen very soon!

He? Maybe you missed it but we allready had a march update. And the date stamp underneath a lot of results means: "hey, i'm fresh". ;)

However, the word fresh has a strechable meaning.

Anyone notice GoogleGuy's post was at 6:58 am on Apr 1, 2003, yet he said "You've got to remember that the update earlier this month was just a little while ago. I wouldn't start worrying about an update yet."

Only 7 hours into April and he's talking about an update "earlier this month". I know he is on Pacific time, so his post was at 10:58pm on March 31st, but he also knows that this board posts times that are 8 hours ahead of him. He's trying to confuse us! Must be some kind of April Fool's thing going on here!

This is user configurable. GG can set board posts to appear as PST.

um if the dance started today you would still have atleast five days to put stuff up and see the resaults in the next dance. You can put stuff up as last as atleast the second day of the dance and still see the resaults.
