I just noticed that the back links are back to 642k for Yahoo (on www3). Something very strange is going on.

I've only just switched on, but it appears to me the dance isn't finished? I'm seeing old results on www, new ones on w2,23..

someone correct me, but it takes a couple of days before they switch www?

Back to 962k now. Maybe this is a normal occurance. I mean they continuously put the next index onto www and then remove it.

There is only 1 datacenter which has the new database at the moment, don't worry they are transfering the new index over time, (It's quite big so it takes a bit of time ;-) )

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I have noticed that some of the sites on www3 have what seems to be a freshdate next to them showing 5th March. Can anybody please explain this to me.

Sorry for what might seem to be a silly question, but are the ww2 ww3 results a precursor to the settled index?

Ive watched the dance on many occasions, but cannot recall whether the ww2 ww3 results were, on those occassions, a good reflection of the final settled index, or just a shifting intermediary that showed all manner of serps whilst google danced.

about 30 days ago i got a PR9 link to my site but it's not listet yet. the new index on www-cw. doesn't have it too. And my other backlinks got down to 50%. that can't be the new index! the backlinks shout have to grow about 100%.

ah crap, my site plummeted in the rankings for no apparent reason other than google decided to drop old pages, index new pages, and ignore a lot of the meta description tags, or not list even excerpts from the content of the page.

oh my GOD, i dropped from 38 backlinks to 3!?!? all the old backlink pages work fine! WTF?!

My site went from thousands of backlinks to zero, looks like I got the penalty but I cant figure out why. It's a shame when you avoid all shady tactics and still get hit with a penalty :( Unfortunately theres no way to figure out why the site was penalized right? I really have no ideas and dont know what to do to get the penalty lifted.

i had 3 domains mirroring the same content, as soon as i put in redirects so i can comply with google's policy and not get in trouble, they hit me with this. i mean what's the freaking point? everyone should go ahead and do all the SEO they can, forget playing by the rules, google will only penalize you if you do :rolleyes:

that's cool, but i can't have on/off months. google was a big source of traffic, and every month is more important than the last as i face stiff competition. this pretty much is a nail in the coffin for my site, which i've spent a lot of money on, which has been doing well during jan/feb. my only other solution is to spend another $500 on google adwords.

The new Google results are using recent RDF data from dmoz.org. As of this moment, directory.google.com still reflects the old RDF data, but SERPs at Google itself show links to categories which don't even exist in the old RDF. :)

I don't think you'll get an answer...lol... the people who know that are avoiding these "the update is coming, the update is coming" like the plague! :)
BUT, in case someone drifts in that can help...
New Backlinks, PR & cache... do the new ones appear in any particular order?

Yet, I think it's too early to give definite answers. backlinks not showing in the update are a painfull, but quite common experience. Often the links resurface later on.
Even if they don't doesn't necc. mean they are discounted.
Final index: From what people say it seems the updated index hasen't even arrived at most servers yet.
How long does it take? Has been different in all updates.

New (www2/www3) SERP showing up the link for Google directory for my site. But the directory still is the old one. How can I see the new directory? Is there a www2/www3 version of the directory? TIA.
